Vehement ~ showing strong feeling; forceful, passionate or intense

Flashback, the night before being kidnapped, 1938 June 6

"You need a girlfriend Stevie," I finish washing the last plate, handing it off to him.

He dries it off and sighs, "No I don't Thea."

"Just let me help you get a girl," I beg him.

"No," he says.

I raise a brow, "No?"

He notices my expression, "I mean..."

"Steven Grant Rogers. We are going to the carnival and getting you a girl today. Understood?"

He sighs, "Fine."

"Wonderful. Let's go," I walk out the door with him following me.

A few minutes later, we reach the fair and the aroma of popcorn filled the air.

"Ooh look at her," I point to a blonde girl.

"She's taller than me."

"What about her?"

"Not my type."

"Her?"

"She looks like she has a kid."

"You are so frustrating," I give him a dirty look, "I'm gonna go to the bathroom. You go... mingle."

He walks away and I go to find the bathroom. I walk around, and see a sign, "Bathroom".

I walk into the dark alley. Yeah this was not right. Time to turn around. I do a 180 and turn to see two men in German uniforms.

One of them grabs me and I try to scream, but my voice is muffled by something being stuffed in my mouth.

I look outside the alley, hoping someone will see me. I watch Stevie pass, calling my name, "Thea? Where are you?"

Tears escape my eyes as I try to get his attention, but he walks by the alley without noticing.

The second guy punches me in the face, knocking me out.

Back to normal

I wake up, panting. Memories kept coming back at random times, and my head felt as if I was banging it against a wall.

I look at the clock next to me.

"2:49 AM"

So. Damn. Tired.

I sigh and walks downstairs to get a glass of water.

This place was huge. Where the hell is the food?

I wander into Tony's lab, where a very much awake Tony was working, "Need something?"

I run a hand through my hair, pushing it back, "Yeah. Where's the kitchen?"

He points to my right, "Go that way and it'll be on your second left."

"Thanks. Also, why are you up so late?"

He shrugs, "I work better at night. Why are you up so late?"

"Can't sleep."

I walk to the kitchen, following his directions and grab myself a glass of water. I sat there for a minute, staring at the light coming from the microwave.
