𝟑𝟖. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐥

 When we were all settled in Newt and I decided to go on a walk around the compound. He took my hand in his as we walked around, a peaceful smile on his face as he spoke. "Y'know, I never thought that we'd ever end up here, not in a million years." "What do you mean Newt?" I asked him confused. "Well safe from WCKD, I mean I thought we were back in the compound but even then I wasn't sure that we were completely safe. But now, I dunno, I can just feel it, now I know we're finally safe." I smiled as we continued walking to the rest of the group before he spoke again. "Y'know, when we settle in to the new place I can actually fulfil my promise to ya and marry you." I laughed a bit as we joined the group and joined in conversation before Thomas joined and we talked about the people we wished were with us before Thomas went off to talk to Teresa. As everyone else went their own separate ways I pulled Newt aside and told him that I didn't trust Teresa completely. He asked me why and I told him that she wasn't the same since both of our memories had been restored and how I feared she may do something to bring us back to WCKD. As he was about to speak we heard hovercraft in the distance and we both realized that I was right as we rejoined the others at full sprint. Suddenly the tents were being blown up and we rushed to find the others. As WCKD soldiers shot us left and right Minho, Newt and I were given guns to hold them off. I grew worried wondering where Thomas was as I shot at the soldiers. Suddenly something was thrown at our tank and I felt a painful jolt of electricity shoot through me making me fall to the ground paralysed. We were hauled over and forced down among everyone else as our necks were scanned. I looked over at Newt and saw he had a hopeless expression on his face as if he'd given up. Thomas came over to us and surrendered which surprised me but also made me realize that there was no way we were ever going to get out of this. I met Newt's gaze again and told him that incase anything happened I loved him and he said the same. As we were loaded into the jets Teresa's betrayal was made well known to everyone else. She begged for Thomas and I to understand but all I could do was glare at Teresa and Ava. Ava also tried to appeal to Thomas and I but I told her to shove it up her ass. Mary came over and was shot which made things even more hopeless. Thomas got a grenade ready to blow all of us up and we all backed him up on it ready for the blast until Jorge and Brenda showed up and the fight resumed once again, everything becoming a blur as people were shooting back and forth as Minho held them off. I tried to make him come with us but he stayed back as we all ran behind a crate. Minho was caught as we all tried to get him back but to no avail. We were pulled back as Minho and the others were loaded into the jets and flew off away from the camp now in firey ruins.
