ℝ𝕌ℕℕ𝔼ℝ: 𝔸 ℕ𝕖𝕨𝕥 𝔽𝕒𝕟𝕗𝕚𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟

𝟒𝟏. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝

When we got back and Newt welded through the door we'd all hoped to see Minho in there. Aris and Sonya were which was a relief due to Aris being a bit familiar before the maze and Sonya being Newt's sister, even if they didn't know it. We rushed over to them and asked how they were before moving on as Harriet stayed talking to them. As we got to the back of the car we realized Minho wasn't in there. Newt's face fell a bit looking sad so I squeezed his hand trying to reassure him silently as best I could. After everyone was let out of the car we all went off in different directions. I kissed Newt murmuring a goodbye to him as I followed Thomas over to where Vince was talking and stood silently with him as Vince talked about leaving once the ship behind him was good to go. I noticed Thomas was on the verge of tears so I spoke. "Thomas, we'll find Minho, okay? I promise we can figure something ou-" My sentence broke off as Thomas walked away. I stood there for a bit watching him leave before deciding to go find Newt. When I found him he was talking to Frypan so I went up behind him and hugged him. Him being taller than me made it so that the top of my head reached his neck but from the way he lightly grabbed onto my hands I knew he appreciated the gesture, bringing one of my hands up to place a light kiss on it. Eventually we joined Aris, Sonya, Harriet, Thomas and Brenda in one of the tents and began talking about what happened. As Sonya and Aris explained what happened Newt spoke up "Any idea where they were headed?" He asked in regards to where they were planning on taking everyone else still in the train cars. I knew he was thinking about Minho, everyone most likely did at this point. Aris said they kept talking about a city and we were all surprised, Harriet speaking what was on all of our minds "I didn't think there were any cities left." Brenda confirmed that there most likely wasn't which got me confused as I tried to think. stepping out of the tent as I tried to think back to my memories of any mentions of one at any point in time. Newt looking up at me confused so I shook my head as a way of saying I needed to think about stuff alone. When I got outside I sat down and began trying to wrack my brain for anything that could be of help when I realized. the only outside I had ever seen was after the maze trials. I wouldn't even know what the outside of whatever building I was in looked like if I had actually ever been in said city. When I was with WCKD we weren't even allowed to look out a damn window. I picked up a rock and threw it in anger as I heard a voice "Whoa love, easy there, trying to take me out with a bloody rock are you?" Newt said in slight amusement. "Just stumped, I thought I could figure out where they may have taken Minho due to them giving me my memories back but there aren't any that involve me even looking out a damn window." I said sighing in defeat as Newt sat down beside me, taking my hand in his. "Don't be so hard on yourself love. We can find a way to bring Minho back. It's okay if you don't know where Minho is, none of us do but we'll find a way." I nodded as we sat in silence. Newt running his thumb over the promise ring on my finger. "Y'know Y/N, I've been thinking lately about after this is all over. The first thing I'm going to do when we're finally free from WCKD is turn that promise ring into a real one." He said looking to meet my eyes. "You sure you want to at this point Newt? I mean do you truly want to put up with me for the rest of your life?" I asked sarcastically already knowing his answer but wanting to poke fun at him. "At this point you couldn't get rid of me if you tried love. Nor am I planning to get rid of you either. I truly do want to put up with you for the rest of my life." He replied back matching my sarcasm with sincerity laced in it. Leaning forward my lips met his sweetly and he moved his other hand to cup the back of my neck slightly deepening the kiss before Thomas' voice broke us apart. "Guys, c'mon I have a plan to save Minho." We instantly got up and followed Thomas.
