ℝ𝕌ℕℕ𝔼ℝ: 𝔸 ℕ𝕖𝕨𝕥 𝔽𝕒𝕟𝕗𝕚𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟

𝟏𝟓. 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞

Minho and Newt still weren't allowing me to be a runner and making me have downtime to heal my back so I was left with not being allowed to do any tasks for the next few days. I kept to myself mostly. Only leaving my hut to get food at mealtimes and heading back to my hut to eat it. Every time I did I felt eyes on me. The only person who ever dared talk to me was Newt, he was the only one I would even want to talk to anyways due to me not wanting to talk to anyone and have them pity me. A week after I first woke up I decided to spend some actual time with Newt rather than just us talking in the privacy of my hut after he'd finished his jobs for the day. I stepped out of my hut and looked sadly at the doors of the maze, wanting to rush into there and run to my heart's content. I forced myself to turn away and walk over to the track hoes instantly spotting Newt. I walked over to him and other track hoes nodded silently at me, not sure whether or not to talk to me, I slightly smiled at them mentally thanking them for not trying to start up an conversation until I reached Newt; who still hadn't noticed me due to his back being turned; and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and instantly brightened up due to me actually being outside. Eventually I ended up chatting with him and the rest of the track hoes in an animated conversation. Until the end of the work day. I still wasn't too comfortable eating meals with everyone due to the track hoes being the least judgemental or pitiful of all of the gladers so I kissed Newt on the cheek lightly before whispering to him that I'd be in my hut when he was finished eating and hanging out with the other gladers. I knew how important the rest of the gladers were to him and how he enjoyed hanging out with everyone but I just wasn't up to it but didn't want to keep him from it at the same time. I ended up going back to my hut and since there was nothing else to do I decided to fall asleep.
