ℝ𝕌ℕℕ𝔼ℝ: 𝔸 ℕ𝕖𝕨𝕥 𝔽𝕒𝕟𝕗𝕚𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟

𝟐𝟓. 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬

Eventually we got the girl back into the med hut and Newt seemed more pissed off than ever so I did my best to stay quiet and leave him be, not wanting to do something to make him snap. He asked if we knew her and Thomas said he didn't, me staying silent again as I sat further away trying to figure out what was going on. I could tell that he was stressed out about having to run the glade without Alby with all of the craziness going on so I wanted to do my best to not add to the stress by saying or doing something stupid. Thomas said he was going back into the maze so Minho followed behind quickly, leaving just Me, Newt, Jeff, and two unconscious people. Jeff excused himself leaving just Newt and I and I tried to leave to let him have some alone time before he asked me not to leave, his voice breaking a bit. I told him to come back to my hut with me if he wanted to talk so he followed me. I sat down with him and asked him what was going on before he spilled out that he was scared due to Alby not being there and that he thought he was going to do something that would mess things up and that he didn't want for everyone to look up to him because he wasn't ready to be the leader yet, and how he was overwhelmed by everything going on around him and that he wasn't sure what to think anymore. When he finished he was sobbing so I did my best to comfort him, pulling him into a hug as he cried, doing my best to let him know that I was there for him and that he wasn't alone. Eventually he had stopped crying but still held on to me like his life depended on it. Eventually he pulled out of the embrace and looked at me before kissing me deeply. We broke away for air and ended up looking each other in the eye before he spoke. "Casey, look, I know things are changing a lot but one thing hasn't changed nor will it ever change, and that's the fact that I love you more than anything else in the entire bloody world. And I know things are uncertain at the moment but I have something for you." He paused and fished something out of his pocket, producing a dainty ring that he had probably gotten the builders to make for him, he looked at me before continuing. "I know this isn't much but it is a promise to you, that once we're out of this bloody maze I want to marry you. I don't know when that will be but I know with one hundred percent certainty that I want to spend the rest of my life with you, more than I can ever remember wanting to spend with anyone else in this entire bloody world. As well I promise that I will love you until the world ends and that nothing anyone can say or do that will ever make me change that statement. So will you accept this promise ring Casey?" He looked at me hopefully. I told him yes and he placed it on my ring finger before I kissed him deeply again.

 Eventually before things got too heated Frypan burst into the hut and said that we needed to go to the meeting hall quickly because they ad found something. When we arrived Thomas handed Newt a metal container looking thing and explained that they had found it inside the griever. Thomas tried to convince him that we needed to go back out there when Gally again decided to become whiny and turn things around to make Thomas seem like a bad guy. I partially agreed with the both of them but only to the extent of there actually being something out in the maze finally but as well agreeing with Gally over the fact that Thomas did need to be put in his place and not doing whatever the hell he wanted to do. Newt looked over at me and I tried to read his expression before he got up and said to make Thomas a runner instead of letting him go into the maze whenever he wanted to. Gally tried to argue back but I shot him a glare before he stormed out. I turned back to Newt who seemed upset so I rubbed his back lightly trying to reassure him that he made the right decision, Thomas came over and thanked Newt to which he nodded before he told me he needed to go check in on Alby. Minho came over to me and asked if I wanted to help show Thomas the map room so I gladly agreed and we set out with Thomas in tow. While walking Thomas asked me what was on my hand and I realized he was asking me about the ring. I smiled and said that Newt gave it to me as a promise ring for if we were to ever get out of the maze. Minho laughed and said he was glad Newt finally did it coz he'd been holding onto the ring for a couple months until now. We continued to joke around until Thomas asked where we were going. We got to the map room and showed Thomas everything about the maze we had mapped out. 

Suddenly Clint and Jeff came running in and said that the girl was awake, We ran over to where everyone was and I instantly saw the mayhem she was causing. She had somehow managed to get very high up and was throwing all kinds of shit at the gladers below. I started laughing so hard I fell over while Chuck laughed beside me. Thomas said that him and I wanted to talk, getting me roped into another of his shenanigans and told me to go up with him. He led the way and as soon as he got almost up he stopped and froze instantly almost causing me to slip and fall off. I asked what was going on and Thomas continued going up again until I was able to get up all the way too. He began talking to the girl "Teresa" and I decided to sit with my legs dangling out as I listened halfheartedly about what was going on. Newt asked if we were coming down and Thomas said to give us a minute. I decided to leave and rejoin Newt and the others. Newt of course was confused as to what was going on and I told him I was just as confused as him, I remembered Teresa from my memories but from what I did remember she didn't seem to like me all that much anyways. The day had been pretty hectic to begin with so I decided to go to the map room where I knew I would have privacy after Newt said he was going to go check on Alby. 

Once I got into the map room I instantly appreciated the peace and quiet. Things were getting to be a little too overwhelming and I knew I needed time away from everyone and everything. I sat against the wall for a while until I fell asleep.

I ended up waking up by Minho carefully shaking me awake I asked him what was up and he said that Newt was looking for me everywhere and was starting to get worried that something had happened to me. Minho grabbed my hand and helped me up then I asked how he knew I was in there. He laughed before saying it's the only logical place that I would be besides in my hut. I laughed a bit before we walked back to Homestead. When we got back Newt was pacing around as Gally was talking to him. Minho announced that I was back and Newt looked up before walking over to me and hugging me, asking where the hell I had been for the past few hours. I told him about taking a nap in the map room and his face softened a bit. He said that everyone needed to go to sleep so everyone left the homestead to go to their sleeping quarters. I took Newt's hand and took him back to my hut before we both got in and passed out on the bed, not caring that the door was open nor the fact that we weren't even properly on the bed itself.
