"WHY, OH WHY, DOES GOD KEEP BRINGING ME BACK TO YOU...?"

Me and Ambrose were watching a movie surprisingly early in the morning and he went to go cook him some food while I petted Kai who was sat in my lap. The sound from TV buzzed through my ears. I suddenly see Ambrose come into the room with a plate full of bacon.

"Bacon, Mary Rose?" He offered. I grimaced with disgust and shook my head. "Eww. No. After what I saw at the Church of Night yesterday, I am fasting." I said, Ambrose sat on the soft next to me.

"Maybe for the rest of my life, but definitely until later tonight." I said. Ambrose hums. "Oh? Big plans?" He asked. I felt a blush settle on my cheeks.

"After Gavin gets done with his studies at the Academy we're going to hang out." I said with a cheesy grin. Ambrose puts down the plate of bacon on the coffee table and picks up my feet that were rest on the ground, and puts them into his lap.

"How casually you can say that." He says before grinning as well. "Soon, Luke and I will be able to do the same." He said. My head tilts.

"Fun, but how is that going to work?" I asked. "Luke has a connection with the High Priest. He's offered to speak with Father Blackwood on my behalf to get my conviction overturned." Ambrose grins happily. I giggled before poking his shoulder.

"Ambrose, you're smitten." I spoke, teasing the guy. I suddenly see Zelda walking into the room. "Where's your Aunt Hilda?" She said.

"She's working at the bookstore, Aunt Zee. Remember, it's Black Friday." I spoke. Zelda looked at me with confusion. "It most certainly is not." She said.

"No, I don't mean witches' Black Friday. I mean it's Black Friday for mortals. It's the busiest shopping day of the year." I spoke, feeling Ambrose massage my calves and ankles with one hand. Suddenly our house phone began to ring. "It's also one of our busiest times." Zelda said, making her way to the phone.

"The Kemper bodies are already on their way, and Satan knows who else." Zelsa said before picking up the phone. "Spellman Mortuary, this is Zelda." She said. Her expression slowly began to drop.

"No, we haven't heard." She responded to the person on the phone which made me and Ambrose curiously. Zelda breathed out before pulling the phone away from her face. "Mary Rose, there's been an accident down at the mines." She said with a shaky voice. My eyes widened before I stood to my feet.

"What happened?" I asked in a panic. I felt Ambrose grab my hand. "Whatever it is it's best if you stay inside and just tell Sabrina." He said. I looked over at Zelda who nodded and hung up the phone, leaving the room. I turned to look at Ambrose.

"Harvey got hurt, Ambrose." I spoke. "I know, at the safest place for you right now is here. So, just sit down and when Sabrina gets back from the mines she'll tell us everything." He said. I sighed, still stressed out before sitting back down on the couch. He placed a reassuring hand on my knee.

The next morning Sabrina told me that Tommy and Harvey were in the mines when suddenly it started to collapse and only Harvey and a couple of other miners got out. Susie had unselfishly went back inside to find Tommy but they only found a bloody hard hat. I was devastated to hear about the news. I couldn't even imagine how Harvey felt.

We were all at the kitchen table because Zelda had to speak to all of us and I was a bit worried. "Ambrose and I have news. Brace yourselves, it's not pleasant." She stated.

"I was astral-projecting, with Auntie Zee keeping watch... and I went to the mines. There were no survivors in there." Ambrose said with a hesitant voice. I breathed out, rubbing my temples. "Dear Lucifer... are you sure?" Hilda asked.
