"AND I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND STEP OUTSIDE."

I sat on the porch of my house, thinking about the recent argument that happened between Zelda and Sabrina. I hate to admit it but something inside me was telling me not to go through with this Dark Baptism. It was like a tiny voice in the back of my head.

But, the thing is, I had to go through with this. I had to set an example for Sabrina because she is spiraling at the moment. I pressed my lips into a thin line as I held my bag close to me, it was almost time for me to go to school and I was just waiting for Sabrina to get down getting ready. I suddenly heard a knock which made me turn my head to see Ambrose. I gave him a tired grin before sighing.

"Let me ask you, the spell you casted on Hawthorn last night, you enjoyed that? From the glint in your eye, you loved it." Ambrose stated. I nodded in confusion.

"Yes...?" I said. Ambrose slightly grinned. "I can tell that you're also nervous about your baptism. You know this entire family has been focusing on Sabrina and how she is handling this but no one has asked you about it. So tell me." He said, signaling me to start explaining. I groaned and threw my head back.

"Something in my head is telling me not to do this, Ambrose. I've been trying to keep it together these past few days and just be there for Sabrina. But, I'm starting to crack. I think me and Sabrina just need to be sure about what we are getting into." I said with a stressed tone. Ambrose walked up to the chair I was sitting in before grabbing my hand and holding it.

"Well, in that case, you need to get your hands on a malum malus." He said. My face contorted in confusion.

"What's a malum malus?" I asked. Ambrose hummed. "It depends on who's translating. If it's a man it's the apple of evil. If it's a woman, it's the fruit of knowledge." He explained.

"What do you do with it?" I asked.

Ambrose smirks. "It's an apple, Mary, you bite it. And it whispers secrets to you. Grants you knowledge. Sometimes it may show you a glimpse of the future. Should you walk the Path of Night or the Path of Light? The malum malus might illuminate one path over another. Is that interesting to you?" He asked. I grinned brightly.

"Of course I'm interested." I said eagerly. "Go to an orchard, find the oldest tree. It'll have one. The older the tree, the more it's seen, the more it knows, the more accurate its reading of the future will be." He spoke. I breathed out in relief before pulling Ambrose into a bone-crushing hug. He huffed before chuckling and wrapping his arms around me.

"You are golden, Ambrose, truly." I commented before pulling away from him and grabbing my satchel. I stood to my feet completely.

"Sabrina, I'm leaving!" I yelled. I turned on my heel and walked away from the house.

"Make sure there aren't any worms in it!" I heard Ambrose yell after me. I turned my head slightly before I waved goodbye to him. I suddenly saw Kai scurrying beside me, I quickly kneeled down and grabbed my familiar and placed him on my shoulder.

Once we got into school me and Sabrina went straight to the front office to see if Hawthorn was coming in today. We walked into the office with sweet innocent grins on our faces. "Hey, Mrs. Meeks. Me and Sabrina were wondering, is Principal Hawthorn in yet?" I asked as we approached her desk. She looked up at us with her sweet bug like eyes.

"Um... Principal Hawthorn won't be coming in today. He's had a... shock." She spoke hesitantly. A hidden smirk grew on my lips. The spell worked, fantastic.

"Shoot. Mary Rose and I have a club proposal we were hoping to get approved today." Sabrina Sabrina with a fake frown. I nodded.

"In Mr. Hawthorn's absence, Assistant Principal Glover would, I suppose... be empowered to review such applications." Mrs. Meeks said. I squealed on the inside, it's finally working. Our voices were finally being heard around here. Meeks grabbed her telephone and being calling Principal Glover.
