Alec wriggled his toes in the warm sand, the ocean breeze kissing his cheeks. He smile was as long as his face could manage to hold. Magnus was the same beside him.
Victoria was a bright sunflower against the blue, blue sky. Her canary yellow sun dress flowed gracefully from her petite frame. Golden ringlets were braided through with small white daisies and mint leaves. Her face scarred and her smile bright. Johnathan intertwined his hands in hers as brother Zachariah- who was now formally known as James Carstairs again, closed the book of prayers and spoke proudly. "Johnathan Fairchild, you may kiss your bride."
Jonathan locked their lips together raising her up to him by her waist as the small crowd cheered. Magnus leaned to Alec grinning and whispered, " For someone as pale as her, Victoria looks quite radiant in yellow doesn't she?"
Alec smiled and whispered back giddily, "She looks great in everything."
It had been two years since the day everything ended. Robert's iron grip, Max's death, Sebastian's siege on Magnus's sanity, and Jonathan's rebirth. In two wonderful years a lot of things happened- Simon and Isabelle had gotten back together; and Isabelle had never been happier, Clary and Jace were engaged with children on the way, and Dear Tessa Gray had returned to James's side. Also another great accomplishment was Alec and Magnus had set the record for the first gay marriage in shadowhunter history, and it sparked many more to come out and prove their love. The group couldn't have been more elated.
Evening had fallen end upon the beach of California, and the celebration had begun. James played the violin beautifully as the newly wed couple shared their first dance. Victoria hadn't stopped crying the entire time, for her this was a dream. A dream that was far too good to be true; Jonathan just giggled at her and kissed away her tears and told her it was honest reality.
Alec had even shared a dance with his mother, and they said things to each other that hadn't been said in a long time and both of them had fear would never be said again.
Now Alec sat with Magnus in the sand the last orange rays of sun drawing a thin line over the oceans indigo horizon creating a serene scene to gaze upon. There fingers laced tightly together, their metals bands scratched and tarnished from their few years of wear, but still glistened. Many happy memories had been made in these years, far more to identify then they could remember.
Tessa Gray had been reunited with James Carstairs, which had been a delight for everyone. Although it deeply saddened Tessa that James would one day leave her as Will had, but she would deeply treasure the moments her and James had to share while they were available to her reach.
The Blackthorn children ran playfully across the sand in the dining light with shells and flower wreaths prancing about as children did. Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn strayed from the group; there footsteps slower paced, the looks they have each other far more grave and serious. Jules continued to give Emma's quivering lips a gentle squeeze of the hands and a brush of a colour stained thumb across her cheek. Some of that colour stayed behind on her cheek, mixing into a brand new hue. She grinned at Julian and took his hands in hers and guided them hurriedly after the other children.
"She took quite a blow after her parents demise didn't she?" Magnus inquired to Alec.
"I don't blame her." Alec spoke sadly then quickly picked up his tone. This was not a day to be saddened, only joyful things could compliment today. "But she has Julian, he's a strong character. He'll help her through it, like everyone did for us after Max's death. Life goes on."
"Your living proof of that if anything, my dear." Magnus softly kissed his cheek and Alec's grin grew wider until he couldn't smile any more.
"Magnus, are we staying here for a while? You know only until Tessa and Jem settle in and the children adjust?" Alec leaned his head into the crook of Magnus' s neck, closing his eyes and inhaling his soothing sandalwood scent.
