10 - Run... or Not

Emily was completely silent on the car ride back to the apartment, JJ attempted to talk with her but she wouldn't grab.

They parked and JJ got out of the drivers side, walking to the other side to get Henry out of his car seat. She picks up and positions his head on her shoulder so he can continue sleeping. They exit the elevator on the 4th floor. Kai walks into the apartment as Emily helps JJ open her door and waits as she places Henry down on the couch. JJ walks back over to Emily, she reaches down and grabs her hands.

"She's worried." JJ said in reference to Kai.

"I know" Emily said, JJ wasn't expecting her to talk, "I should go and .. I don't even know"

"I'm sure she'll feel better with you just being there. Go" JJ said.

"Mom, why didn't you tell me he came back." Kai said as Emily closed the door behind her.

"I didn't want to bother you, I thought I had handled it." Emily said, leading her daughter to the couch.

"Why's he here, what does he want?"

"I'll handle it, I promise." Emily said.

"What are you going to do, don't keep me in the dark please."

"I can't, not with what I am going to do. Please just trust me."

"Mom I'm not 7! I'm an adult, why can't you tell me. I don't want you to do something if it will hurt you!" Kai says angrily, standing up as she does.

"I don't want to fight with you, Kai. Not about him ,not before you go to Nat's for her birthday. Please."

"But it's not about him, it's about whatever it is you are going to do!"

Emily stands up and grabs her daughter hands, "I know you are worried, but I will not be hurt. I promise. You should get ready, you don't want to be late."

Kai opens her mouth to reply but stops and instead wraps her arms around her mother.

"So how'd it go with Kai?" JJ asks over the phone. She's laying in her bed, but can hear the scuffling coming from Emily's side of the phone.

"She was ok after we talked," Emily lied, knowing she can't let JJ know what she was really planning on doing.

"What are you doing, there a lot of background noise?"

"Oh, I have you on speaker, I'm folding laundry." Emily lied once again, she hates doing it but it's necessary. She continued placing clothes in a bag, she pulls the extra phone out of the side pocket, and enters the last phone number of Felix's that she had.

She maintained a conversation with JJ, hoping she was not raising suspicion. A couple minutes later Henry had woken up and crawled into bed with JJ, and Emily said bye.

She sent a message through the extra phone.

Where?   -E

Kai getting hurt is something she would never let Felix do, if that meant she had to do some unwanted things, then that's what Emily had to do. She'd go away for a while, leave the necessary clues and come back unharmed, more importantly Kai would be off Felix's mind.

She dropped the phone on the side table and attempted to sleep

Emily walked into her office, she placed her bad down on her chair and sat down. She pulled out the phone, still no reply. It hasn't even been seen. She knew Felix likes to do things quickly, Emily expected that's he would have to leave work early to go through with the plans. She reached over to the files that she had called and asked for, as she opened the first one there was a knock on her door.

"Come in" she said.

"This came for you" Penelope said, placing the mailing envelope on Emily's desk.

"Thank you", Penelope steps out and back out to the bullpen, where JJ was watching Emily through the window, with some struggling though because of the half down blinds of the window.

Emily opened the envelope, she pulls out the single sheet inside.

VALLEYWOOD

Emily stood up, walking out of her office.

"Garcia, who sent this" she asks, looking at the envelope again for an address.

"It was hand delivered" she said.

"What's wrong, Emily?" JJ asked, getting up and walking up the stairs.

"Its Felix."

"What do you mean?" JJ asks confused. Garcia looks to Spencer and Tara, who were standing next to her, mouthing 'who's Felix', they both shook their heads, not knowing who he was.

Emily passed the sheet to JJ, looking in the envelope to see what the other thing she was feeling was, she pulled out Kai's drivers license. She gasped and JJ turned to look over.

"He has her." She said quietly, JJ hears her.

"Round table room, now." She says to the other 5 team members standing at the bottom of the stairs, she leads Emily in the direction of the room, stopping to knock on Rossi's office door.

JJ pulls out the empty evidence board and sticks the paper up on it.

"What is going on?" Luke asks.

Emily walks over and puts Kai's license up next to the paper, "um, Kai.. she.." Emily tries, but can't get any words out of her mouth.

"Kai's father, Felix something, took her." JJ says hoping she is correct from what she had gathered through Emily's minimal explanation.

"Felix Connors" Emily said. Penelope typed his name into her computer system, "um we need to set up road blocks he's trying to take her to Florida. Garcia can you see where Kai's phone is, and try to call it, and her car. Tara, Luke  can you go down to the college, see if she got to class today. I'll sent you the information. Matt, Spencer, she was at a friend's last night, can you go check out her place." Emily spit out, her brain in total work slash protective mother mode.

"Her phone's off. Her car is parked outside and apartment on 2nd Street. And Luke, Tara I sent you the class information." Garcia said, Luke and Tara left.

"Garcia send the 2nd Street address to Matt. That's where she was last night." Emily said, and Spencer and Matt left.

Rossi walked into the hall to call for the road blocks. JJ stood in front of Emily, she placed her arm on her shoulder.

"Emily, what does valleywood mean?" She asked, knowing it must mean something for Emily to know that the message was from Felix.
