"Jefferson has just been spreading rumours about him non-stop. The last one said that he's been embezzling funds to pay for whores" I complain to Hercules. Herc turns around and gives me a cup of tea, "Haha, you and I both know Alexander wouldn't need to pay for women to have sex with him" he laughs awkwardly, avoiding my eyes. "Yeah" I laugh back. Suspicious of his behaviour, I take a sip of my drink "You don't know anything right, Herc" I ask cautiously, Herc gets even more uncomfortable his brown eyes focused on the cup full of whiskey in front of him. "Nope, I'm sorry Debs. I've got to go I got a million dresses to make" he excuses himself and leaves the room quickly, his short blond hair waving with the sheer speed he left.
"People are not telling me something" I mutter to myself. Feeling anger rise up in me, I hate being out of the loop. "Maybe Washington knows something" I tell myself, standing up and leaving the hot tea. I go outside, looking around at the city, people are on edge today. I see some women pointing at me and whispering a large document in their hands. Nothing new, but still annoying as fuck. I hop on my horse, people avoiding my eyes. I feel anxiety well up in me some more and I race towards Washingtons house. When I finally arrive I'm sweaty and hot from galloping. "Hey Deborah" mini Lafayette greets me when I step of the horse. "Hey mini Lafayette" I greet him back, securing the horse.
"You must call me Georges, Deborah. We've talked about this all summer" the ten year old groans, I cringe at the name and smile quickly "I don't like that name, mini Laf. Do you know where I can find Washington" I ask him smiling at the fast growing boy. "He is in the kitchen" he casually points to the house behind him. I walk towards, turning around "See you later mini Laf. You know where Alexander and I are if you need anything" I smile, he smiles back and gives me a small wave. The uncomfortable feeling I pushed down for 2 seconds comes dripping back in "Can we talk" I barge into the kitchen. Washington almost chokes in his food and starts coughing. I wait impatiently, crossing my arms and tapping my foot, until he stops coughing. "Well" I ask, uncrossing my arms my forehead still full hot from the anxiety and physical activity. "I'm sorry Deborah. I've got some work I need to
attend to" Washington excuses himself, the sandwich in front of him barely touched. "That's bullshit. Someone needs to tell me what the hell is going on" I yell, pounding my fist on the table. Washington abruptly sits back down in his chair "Look Deborah, you have to ask Alexander about whatever it is that you want to talk about" he sighs, crackling his knuckles. "Alexander probably won't tell me shit" I argue, Washingtons face clouded with uncomfortability and some other emotion. He doesn't answer and keeps his gaze on the sandwich in front of him. "Fine" I groan and walk out the door. I'll go to the person who will tell me the truth about Alexander, I pass by mini Laf again and give him a kind wave.
I jump on the horse and ride straight towards the Jefferson estate. Fuck this, I have to go to one of the persons I hate the most to get information about one of the persons I love the most. I dismount the horse when I finally arrive at Jefferson, practically fuming with impatience and anger at this point. I knock on the door impatiently, a black woman opens the door. "Hi, can I talk to Thomas" I ask, smiling kindly, the woman smiles politely and opens the door further so I can step inside. "Of course miss. Who should I say is calling" she asks, leading me to foyer. "Deborah Hamilton" I answer, smiling politely at her. "Al right. If you would be so kind as to wait here" she asks, wiping the crooks out of her white uniform. I nod politely and sit down, I can't break her out right? Probably not, I don't want to cause another death. Maybe I can convince Thomas to let her go? No he hates me and Alexander. I sigh and lean forward, rubbing my temples in attempt to relax my brain. "Thanks Sally. You're a doll" I hear Jefferson talk to the woman.
"Hamilton, what can I do you for" Thomas walks in, flipping his red hair as some beauty statement or whatever. "I need your help Jefferson" I ignore the joke he immediately made. He laughs and sits across from me "Of course you do, I'm after all the best" he boasts, grabbing a drink that was one the small table in front of him. I refrain from rolling my eyes "There is something everybody isn't telling me. About Alexander" I clear my throat. "Ahh, wait so you don't know" he asks, obviously teasing me that he does know. "No" I answer bitterly, the man across from me comfortably fixes his purple jacket enjoying this to the max. no doubt. "Oh well this interesting indeed" he drags it out, pouring me a whiskey. I wait impatiently for him to fix the drink while tapping my foot, he puts the drink in front of me and sits back down on the couch. "Will you just
