I sat there in the truck, the last one awake after Annabeth herself went to sleep. She's has a point...
I can't save everyone. A mindset like that can easily cause reckless behavior which could and probably would endanger me and these heroes. I don't know, as she pointed out obviously Andrew is numero uno on my list, and I guess the demigods are second due to my prophecy....which I guess makes the normal mortals number 3. The thing is the demigods and mortals will die in abundance either way. I can't stop that cold fact at any capacity. Then there is also the point that humanity is actually doing fine as of right now. Whereas the demigods seem to have it pretty rough.

"I don't know anymore... I guess I care too much about too much."

"Too much?" Percy asked sitting up against the truck wall rubbing his eyes.

"Just...everything. Everything is too much. Sorry, I know that's probably confusing and maybe even depressing. How'd you sleep? I didn't wake you did I?"

"No, you didn't. And shockingly not very well. Definitely not a classy hotel I'll tell you that much."

"Definitely not," I agreed with a laugh. "The others are still pretty out of it though, so that shows how tired they are."

"Yeah well, we've had it pretty rough. Why aren't you asleep? you're usually one of the first ones out."

"Too much on my mind I guess. It's pretty funny actually, I'm several centuries old, and yet here I am taking wisdom from you four," I said leaning back against the tuck wall, and looking up at its ceiling.

"Well, apparently you only got your memories back very very recently."

"Good point." Suddenly I felt the truck slowing down now and felt a sense of relief from the drivers. "We're here, wherever here is. We should wake the others," I said already shaking Andrew and Grover awake and Percy did the same to Annabeth.

"Whaaa?"

"We're here," I said as they all slowly awoke.

"Where's here?" Annabeth asked rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.

"We're about to find out," I said nodding towards the truck door as it opened and two surprised-looking workers looked at us as we jumped past them and ran into...Vegas? Ok...Not exactly where we're supposed to be.

"Vegas?" Annabeth asked and I nodded.

"Apparently so yeah."

"How far is Vegas from LA?" Percy asked as Annabeth took out a map and we all gathered around it.

"For me a little under an hour," I said. "So probably about 2 or 3 for you guys?" I said looking at the map.

"Ok, that's relatively fine then. We just need another ride," Grover said.

"Oh welcome you five, please come in. We have your room ready as per your friend's request."

We collectively turned around to see a bellhop walking up to us.

"Um, I think there's been a mistake sir. We just got here," I said and the bellhop smiled at us.

"I know, again we were informed you'd be here soon. And here you are, now come in. We have refreshments ready for you," He said turning around and walking back towards the massive casino.

"We could use the food and drink at least, so no harm in giving it a shot," Grover said and Annabeth sighed but nodded as well.

"Fine, but keep your guard up. Whoever this friend is we don't know them and this whole thing seems off. We get refreshed and then we continue on our way."

Percy, Grover, Annabeth, and Andrew began towards the Lotus Casino. I felt my eyes get wide and my head began to hurt. My body apparently wasn't in much better shape as I began to sweat and shiver.

"Jess?" Andrew called back as I sat down on a nearby bench across from the casino entrance. "You ok? What's wrong?"

"I don't know. It's like I got hit with a tempest of emotions just now. Something is very wrong with this place. I don't know what but whatever it is, it's hitting me like a freight train right now."

"I agree it is very weird but we do need the food and water right now. "

"Not weird, wrong. Like it's distorting my view of the people inside. It's hard to explain."

"Ok, I'll stay with you until this passes and we'll figure out what to do after that yeah?"

"No, you four do need to eat. I'll wait here till you get back."

"You sure?" Andrew asked clearly hesitant to leave my side.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Go ahead."

"Ok...We'll be back soon," Andrew said slowly getting up still looking at me. I nodded back at him, smiling which was gone in a second with another headache wave and shiver making me wince.

"Jess you look really bad..."

"Andrew I'll be fine...promise. Go ahead, just come back yeah? The sooner we leave the better."

"I will. Just don't bail."

"Like I'd leave you. Nah but pretty sure I'm not moving for a bit."

"I'll see you soon then."

"Yeah, keep an eye out for the others too."

"Will do."

I watched as he ran across the street into the ominous building, the doors shutting behind him.

--Seemingly 1-day later--

I sat in the back of the food court on my own, looking around feeling more and more nauseous with each passing second.

"I hate this place."

"Jess! There you are!" Andrew exclaimed as he walked over soda in hand.

"We should go Andrew, like seriously. What happened to just getting something to eat and drink?"

"What do you think this is?" He asked holding up his soda, and I rolled my eyes.

"We've been in here a whole 24 hours now. We really need to...go...Percy, what's wrong?" I asked standing up as he, Annabeth, and Grover walked up to us in a hurry.

"Something is wrong, I don't know what but we gotta go. I met a kid who thought it was 70's or something."

"Ooh, I know where we are now. I think, but yeah we need to go now then," I said grabbing Andrew's hand and following them out.

"Ow ow ow! Jess ease up on the grip will you?"

"Sorry, hurry up though. We do seriously have to go."

"What the heck?"

"Whaaa...oh that's not good. It's not true though right? We've only been in there one day."

"No it's definitely accurate," I said looking up at the name of the casino. Lotus...Yup. I was right.

"How do we get to LA then to New York in one day?"

"Train. Then assuming we live, plane. But one thing at a time," Annabeth replied to Grover.

"Yeah, like how do we get to the train station?" Andrew asked and I looked around.

"Taxi?"

"That'd work, yeah." Annabeth and we then proceeded to hold out our thumb and wave at the oncoming taxis. One of which eventually did pull up.

"Where to?"

"Train station."

"Next stop the Underworld..." Andrew muttered quietly as we put on our seatbelts.
