Hades looked me over after walking around me a couple of times, seemingly curious about me in some way.
"I don't understand why a Titan would throw away their freedom! Their life! for a mortal. I truly don't.""You do. You just don't like that it applies to me," I said with an eye roll. "Demigods exist in abundance out there because you Olympians fall in love with mortals all the time. Is it really such a surprise when a Titan does the same? Regardless, what's the play Hades?"
"The smart move obviously, would be to throw you into Tartarus. Even still, it couldn't be more obvious that you're not a threat to me or anyone for that matter. As long as what you care about is not threatened, Is that correct?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yes, and?" I replied sensing there was more.
"And it is entertaining to see the rest of the gods on edge and unsure of what to do..." He paused for a bit before continuing his thought. "Jesse was it?"
"Yes."
"You're free to go."
"What's the price?"
"Nothing. You're no threat to me, and you're pathetically predictable. So go."
Before I could even get out a word I found myself in front of the Empire State Building...Ok. Ok. Naturally, I'm hurled into the heart of the Olympian territory. I heard rapid footsteps coming from behind me...I winced as a punch hit me square in the chest, followed by one to my face, and another to my side. Pretty sure I'd be in a lot of pain if I was human, even still the punches kept coming. This time a hand grabbed my shirt by the collar and hit me square in the face followed by a kick to my left side as he let my shirt go. Even still, despite the flurry of fists, I took it all without a word, I took all his anger as he let it out. I can see how it's justified in his eyes, which were now full of tears as his last punch landed lightly, barely even a tap onto my chest. I felt myself form a small sympathetic smile as he yanked me into a fierce hug and I immediately returned it.
"I know...I know...I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry Andrew. I know what I asked wasn't fair," I whispered as we hugged each other.
"IT WASN'T! IT WASN'T FAIR AT ALL! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA AT ALL HOW WORRIED I WAS?!"
"I do. And I'm sorry."
"Hey...everything okay you two?" An officer asked as he walked up, oh. We've gathered quite the crowd...Well, they did just witness a boy attempting to beat the ever-living crap out of another and then break down crying. Pretty sure that'd confuse a lot of people and not necessarily for the better. Hence the officer.
"We're fine, thank you, officer," I said as me and Andrew slowly pulled apart. "We're ok," I said but this time it was quiet and directed at the still crying Andrew.
"O..Ok. Well um, you two need to move because you're causing a scene. Understand?"
"My apology officer." I nodded as I offered Andrew my hand and he took a moment but accepted it. Pulling him to his feet, I nodded to the Empire State Building. "We can stay here and wait, this is about the safest place imaginable for right now at least. Ya know, assuming Percy and the others get this quest done on time and correctly. Or, we can go back to camp, up to you Andy."
"We should stay here, we are still part of this quest...kinda. It'd be bad if we turned back now," He said quietly, still trying to get over his emotions.
"Okay, let's go wait inside then yeah?"
"Jess, you did hear what you just said right? Pretty sure that's not a good idea, at least for you."
"I...." I began but sighed and nodded. "Yeah, you're right. Not a good idea."
"Yeah....hey! Let's go chill by that fountain ok? Remember how you and me used to sit by the fountain at Yancy?"
