Unfortunately, a week later, I'd missed my period, was having stomach cramps and couldn't keep any food down. I didn't even bother calling Rafe because he didn't care about me and unless I was 100% sure I was pregnant there was no need to get in contact.

The only thing I could think to do was call Kiara or Sarah to buy me a pregnancy test. Sarah didn't know I was sleeping with her brother though so it would be risky asking her to buy it because she'd want to know details. Kiara wasn't picking up her phone and after the third try I slumped to the bathroom floor in defeat, the tears ready to spill over as I processed the situation.

I would have to call JJ.

He picked up after the first ring, he always did. One time when we were high he confessed he had a separate ringtone for me so he could always pick up if I rang. It was such a simple gesture but it meant so much to know that he cared that much about me.

"Hey, JJ, can I ask you a huge favour?" I asked, trying to sound strong despite being on the verge of crying.

"Yeah sure, what do you need?" he answered, soundly slightly breathless and I presumed he was with a girl. I felt bad for interrupting their fun.

"I need you to buy me something."

"Of course, what is it?" he sounded so happy to hear me and I didn't know how he'd react.

"A pregnancy test."

There was a pause on the line for a few seconds and I was about to say his name when he spoke.

"Shit, yeah okay."

"Kiara and Sarah aren't picking up their phones or else I would have asked them but my neighbours run the pharmacy so of course I can't go in and I didn't know who else to call," I blurted, letting the tears fall and I knew he heard my voice crack.

"Hey it's okay. Calm down. I'll get the test and be over in twenty, try not to stress out, sunshine, yeah?" he soothed, ignoring the other girl on the line who was urging him to come back to bed.

"Thanks J," I breathed, relief washing over me knowing he would be here soon.

"Anytime, sunshine, now dry those pretty eyes for me."

I let out a choked laugh and ended the call, wiping my mascara away and tidying my house before he got here.

Now you may be wondering why I didn't talk to my mother about all of this; the thing is, she was a flight attendant for some rich Kooks with private jets, which meant she was at their beck and call whenever they wanted to travel. She was rarely at home, and when she was, it was awkward because we'd spent so long apart we didn't know how to talk to each other.

She didn't really know much about my life but I was fine with it. Even though I was 18 I knew she wouldn't approve of me having sex, especially with Rafe, and she definitely wouldn't approve that I smoked weed. To be honest, I rarely smoked, maybe once a month at a party or with JJ on John B's porch. I wasn't addicted, far from it, but sometimes I needed it if I was stressed.

The last time I'd seen my mother was around three weeks ago, and she wasn't due back for another two, which gave me a free house that the other Pogues loved taking advantage of. I prided myself in always keeping it tidy and clean, and having a balanced diet seeing as I was in charge of shopping. When I was younger I would live off junk food but when Mom's stays became longer, I realised I'd have to change my lifestyle.

Sometimes the other Pogues slept over at mine which I enjoyed, because it got lonely in the house all alone after a while. It did make it easy for Rafe to come and fuck me though with no interruptions. I'd only been to his house a handful of times, and only when his family were out which was rare, aside from that one time I hung out with Sarah and Kie when they invited me to a Kook party.

Even though they were Kooks, they might as well have been Pogues like John B, Pope, JJ and I. Well maybe not Sarah, she was the Kook Princess, as we liked to call her, but she was good for John B and we all enjoyed her company.
