Now that JJ and I had taken things to the next level in our relationship, I felt even closer to him and it sounded cliché but I truly did love him more and more every day. Somehow I'd managed to catch the flu, probably from one of the parents outside Flora's day-care whose kids spread germs like wildfire. So far Flora was seemingly okay, so tried to keep my distance to prevent her catching anything. I thought I could manage things; JJ was at work and I didn't want to disturb him, but I felt awful and just wanted to hear his voice so I dialled his number.

"Hey pretty girl, what's up?"

"Jay, I-I think I'm sick. I don't want Flora to catch it. Shall I call someone? Maybe Rafe? O-Or Kiara. I don't know," I stumbled over my words because my head hurt so much.

"Oh sweetheart," he cooed. "Leave it all to me, yeah? I'll call Kie to pick up Flora and I'll be home in an hour, okay? Drink lots of water and stay warm. I love you."

"Love you," I whispered back hoarsely.

I packed half a bag for Flora, who was busy watching TV, luckily, so I didn't have to get too close. The room was spinning so I crawled into bed and sent Kiara a quick text to use the spare key. I heard the other girl let herself in and chat with Flora for a bit before she poked her head in my bedroom.

"How are you feeling?"

"Shit," I chuckled weakly, which turned into a cough and she looked at me worriedly.

"Is there anything I can get you?"

"I'm alright thank you, I'll have JJ here soon. Thank you so much for taking Flora, I really appreciate it."

"I'm looking forward to it don't worry. Get well soon," she smiled, giving me a small wave before taking Flora and packing some more stuff in her half-finished overnight bag.

I heard the key turn in the lock again and prayed it was JJ. His messy blonde hair came into view and I gave him a weak smile from the bed.

"How are you feeling baby?" JJ he asked, fussing over me and tucking the covers up to my chin.

"A bit better," I lied, pulling the blanket even closer but I felt so shivery even with a fever.

"Want me to make you some soup?"

"Yes please."

He checked my temperature and when I'd last taken medicine, before returning with a hot cup of tea and a bowl of soup.

"Have I ever told you how much I love you?"

"Every day, sunshine."

"Well I really do."

He tried to cuddle up to me in bed but I didn't want to give him the flu as well. He pouted when I gently pushed him out of bed.

"But you'll get sick too!" I protested, feeling guilty at his puppy-dog eyes.

"A problem shared is a problem halved," he quipped with a half-cocked smile.

"Not for the fucking flu, J!"

Needless to say, two days later I was the one taking care of him but I didn't mind him acting like a big baby about it because he was always the one taking care of us.
