______________

To the immortal, there are certain things that she was sure of.

The first of those things is that the heroes of today have grown monumentally soft. Now, there were exceptions, and the up and comers that had just burst onto the scene were very impressive, but she saw what they all lacked:

Drive.

She could see it in a lot of their faces that if a real threat were to plague the hero world, most of them wouldn't be able to handle it.

The second thing was that, at the very least, the batch coming into U.A. looked pretty promising, and with the girl joining the school this time around, she was going to make it her mission to make sure ALL OF THEM were ready.

And the last thing was that her trainee was a goddamn monster. Every lesson she had given Midoriya, he had took it and applied it almost immediately. The way his mind and body worked in unison was nothin short of extraordinary. He had almost done the lightning trick but still couldn't really get it down all the way, but his control was amazing. He was able to hold OFA Full Cowling for long periods of time, no matter how tired he got. He was able to, at this point, control up to 15% of the power.

Time was almost up for them in this little bubble they had secluded themselves in. They had less than a week left and things were going swimmingly. Not only for the physical, but for the mental aspect as well.

Since that sit down she had with Midoriya, every night they made it a plan to share stories of their past. Midoriya's was obviously shorter than Xia's, seeing as she had multiple centuries worth of stories.

He has shared stories of his mom. How she had been there for him through all his troubles, even if he never really made an effort to talk about them with her, just knowing that she cared was enough for him. He never wanted to burden her as she was trying hard to raise a quirkless son in this society that was not forgiving to those without powers. He would always say he was sorry for making her worry and not talking to her, but he's very much a "I'll handle it myself" type of person. But now, with Xia, he felt like he could share his rusev with someone that had trauma, just like him.

He would talk about his run ins with Bakugo. He gave her permission to just look through his head for that one. The things she saw was nothing short of disgusting. It made her upset that she had put him on her list to be in the class with her. Heroes didn't do and say the things he said to other people and Midoriya. But the thing that made her really upset was that Midoriya held no ill will towards the boy. Because he knew exactly why Bakugo was the way he was. He couldn't erase the past. The things that happened, happened. He wanted Bakugo to continue on his pursuit to be a hero. Not only because he wanted him to live his dream. But because he wanted to prove a point to the blonde now. To prove that he was better. To prove that he wasn't useless or weak. Xia had told him when they first started talking that though his bully called him Deku, the best way forward was to own that name. To make it mean something else. When people hear "Deku", they hear "useless". She told him that he had to make it mean something else. He had to make it mean something different.

And he decided that it would mean never giving up. It would mean never backing down. It would mean owning your failures and becoming stronger, faster, better. It would be the words to describe a great hero.
