[Name] was in a deep sleep until she was shaken awake. She opened her eyes to Mason holding his finger to his mouth. She looked around the room to see all of her other siblings asleep. This was it. They were going to escape. As she looked back towards the brunette boy, he was slowly opening the window to the roof of the house. He motioned for her to follow him. The little girl followed him as he held a scalpel.
"It'll be quick." [Name] turned her head so that her left ear would face Mason. She felt a sharp pain go through the tip of her ear and hissed. Mason quickly put a bandage on her ear that he had prepared prior to waking her up. He then put the ear part under [Name]'s bed.
Smart thinking.
The boy had put the ear under the bed so that when their mother checked her tracker, it would appear that everyone was still in bed. Mason looked up towards the window, ready to leave. [Name] noticed he also had a bandage on his ear.
[Name] curiously asked, "What did you do with your ear?"
"I cut it already and put it under my bed." Mason tip-toed his way to the window and climbed out. He peeked his head out, and held his hand out to [Name]. The little girl grabbed it and climbed out of the window as well. As she stepped onto the roof of the house, she looked down. They were pretty high. As she continued to observe the distance between her and the ground, she got even more nervous.
"Just think of it as hopping from the trees." Mason suggested.
[Name] always hopped from tree to tree whenever she would play tag. This method has helped her win before. She brought her feet to the edge of the roof, trying to build up the courage to jump off. As she was contemplating on her jump, she heard two thuds. One from right next to her and one coming from the ground. She looked down to see Mason staring at her with a straight face. He raised his eyebrows waiting for her to come down.
[Name] closed her eyes and envisioned herself as if she were playing tag. She envisioned trees surrounding her. She's standing on a branch. She needs to get off of the tree, to the ground. As she's about to jump off of this 'tree', she quickly opens her eyes to see where she was going.
And just like that, the little girl safely planted her feet on the ground. She gave a glance to Mason, who looked like a proud father.
"Let's go." he whispered. The kids both ran for the trees.

"Everything is normal. Now ending transmission." Marilyn had just finished her daily check in, and was headed in to check the bedrooms. She took out her tracker. Everything looked normal.
She looked into the first room, and everything seemed fine.
She looked into the second room and saw that the window was open. As she was on her way to close the window, she noticed two empty beds.
