Percy was shocked that Annabeth had texted him at all, it was a risk to her position in her group. He put his phone down and picked his pizza back up, taking a few bites. He was vaguely aware of what was going on around him, the buzz of people talking and moving around him. He felt a hand tap his shoulder, he ignored it but felt it tap again.
He turned to see who it was, and his day went from ok, to terrible. Rachel sat next to him and got a little too close to Percy. He tried to move away but she was persistent.
"So Percy, are you busy this weekend? My date canceled and I need a new plaything." Rachel said as she trailed her finger from his shoulder down to his forearm.
Percy's phone buzzed on the table and he picked it up, he had a text from Annabeth, and all it said was "Run" But Percy was already a step ahead of her. He picked up his tray, threw his trash away and strolled away, leaving Rachel there speechless.
Annabeth snickered from across the cafeteria, and finished her food before throwing her trash away, putting her tray away, and walking after Percy.
After a few minutes she caught up with him, it was a bit harder because he was hiding in a corner of the library reading.
"Hey Seaweed brain," Annabeth said as she leaned against a bookshelf. "Good work back there loosing Rachel"
"I don't even know why she came up to me. She's never done this before, and I've never given the slightest inclination that I like her," Percy said "And did you just call me Seaweed brain?"
Annabeth was grateful that Percy didn't look up from the book he was reading, otherwise he would have seen her deep blush. "Maybe she saw someone else looking at you and did it to make them jealous" She replied, purposefully avoiding Percy's question.
Luckily he didn't catch on, and just nodded "I doubt that's the reason, no one would like me. And what are you even doing here by the way? Aren't you afraid someone is gonna see you?"
Annabeth gave an indifferent shrug "Nah, I've gotten out of worse, and anyways, I wanted to ask you something"
"Hmm?" Percy looked up"Would you maybe consider going out with me?" Annabeth asked shyly while looking down.
