ADIA
Houston, Texas
Verse One, Chapter Three"So stay with me a while
I promise it'll be worth your while.
I love you and all the little things you do.
Some people don't understand how you hold my heart in your hands
but everything I do, I do it for you and only for you."Adia sang, her fingers strumming the guitar strings lightly. Being in a new house was such a different experience for her she had only ever lived in their old apartment and a couple of motels when Monroe couldn't pay the rent so she felt kinda overwhelmed. Singing was one of the only ways she could calm herself down and relax. It brought her peace.
"Adia!" Angel shrieked bursting inside of her room wearing absolutely nothing except a bonnet on her head. "You have got to try the hot tub it feels so good!" She stopped seeing the guitar in her sister's hand. "Are you writing?" She walked over picking up her notebook and scanning over it before Adia snatched it away. She hated people touching her songbook, it was her most prized possession. "That's good. You know you should really do something with your music Adia, It's really good."
"Why don't you have on any clothes?" Adia asked trying not to look at her sister's body. They were used to being naked around each but that didn't mean that it didn't sometimes make Adia uncomfortable watching her sister's walk around with nothing on.
"I just came from the hot tub. You gotta come down there with us. This house is fucking amazing!" Ignoring the fact that Angel decided to get in their hot tub butt as naked she shook her head.
"I'm sure it is but I need to head over to Africa's house to pick up my costume." Africa had run into some problems which caused her to have to finish Adia's costume later than she originally had said, but Adia didn't mind as long as it was done before The Diamond Party.
"Yeah, you know she got picked to dance at the party. Some of the vets are mad they feel like she doesn't deserve it." Angel spoke tapping the lamp that sat on the nightstand beside Adia's bed. "She's good though she definitely got a chance to dance for him in the VIP room."
"You want to dance for him?" Angel shrugged at her sister's words.
"I mean yeah more money for me if I do right? What about you?"
"What you mean what about me?" She looked up at Angel. "I don't dance Angel and I'm not about to start now."
"Come on Adia you gotta get away from this house, we all do."
"We just moved here."
"Yeah, but ma got a whole fucking bar downstairs. It's only a matter of time before her and one of us get into another fight. She got more money to support her habits now Adia, this not good." There were rare occasions when Monroe would turn her anger onto Angel or her but unlike her sisters, Adia wouldn't hit her mother back she just stood there and took it which made her sisters jump in to defend her. It hasn't happened in years but with Monroe, you never know.
"So what you want me to do? Dance to get enough money to get out of here? Boss won't allow that I can't just start dancing out of nowhere especially not at a big event like this."
"Adia we've seen you play on the pole and you can do it. You just gotta stop being scary and dance. And I'm sure Boss won't mind either. He's been teasing you about dancing for the longest."
