ADIA
Los Angeles, California
Verse One, Chapter NinePushing the strands of hair that fell from her curly afro out of her face Adia stood in front of the crowded and noisy airport with her bags tucked tightly under her arms. She was waiting on her sisters to come and pick her up but it didn't look like they would show. She had arrived in LA about an hour ago and was blowing both of her sister's phones up to no avail. It pissed her off that they claimed they wanted her to come and see them so bad but they couldn't come and pick her up or at least let her know that they wouldn't be able to make it.
"This some bullshit," She huffed throwing her hand out to hail some of the taxies that were driving by. She never had to hail a taxi before so she seemed out of place beside all the other people that knew what they were doing. Eventually, though she was able to catch the attention of a driver and got in the back of his car. She gave him the address and sat back in her seat with a frown on her face. She hated the fact that she couldn't really rely on anybody but she didn't want her sisters to throw her off of her game. She had to keep her head on straight if she wanted to make a good impression on Kasir tonight.
The traffic in California was completely different from Houston. She was used to a little heavy traffic but LA was a whole different ballgame. While she sat in the back of the taxi she decided to call her sisters once again and thankfully this time Angel answered.
"I've been calling you for an hour! I had to get in the back of a taxi because you wouldn't answer and come to get me like you promised!" She didn't intend on snapping on her sister but it made her angry that she was the youngest but most mature and responsible one. Angel had promised that she would be at the airport but instead left her in a strange city and wouldn't even pick up the phone.
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry Adia I was busy."
"Busy doing what? Sucking dick?" She noticed the older white man's eyebrow arch as he glanced at her through his mirror. She rolled her eyes and focused back on her phone call.
"You need to calm the fuck down okay? I said I was sorry for leaving you. Now, where are you I'll come to get you?"
"Pull over right here," She tapped the driver's seat. "You know what don't even worry about it Angel I'll get around this city by my damn self." She hung up as the cab driver pulled in front of Hotel Bel-Air. Thankfully the driver and bellhop were so nice and helped her get her things out of the cab. She brought three bags with her just because she wasn't quite sure what she was wearing yet. She wanted to make a good impression but at the same time, she didn't want to be too flashy. She wanted to be taken seriously.
"Finally," She huffed pushing her room door open and dragging her bags inside. She didn't want any help from anyone anymore her mood was now completely ruined by her sisters. "I need a drink," It had been about five hours since Adia last had a drink and it was starting to show. She was getting annoyed quickly and snapping on people she wouldn't usually go off on.
Popping open the complimentary champagne bottle she sat at the foot of her white Queen sized bed and swallowed as much as her mouth could hold. Hissing sharply she pulled out her ringing phone and answered without looking at the caller ID.
"Are you calm now?" It was Angel. Adia didn't respond as she kept on drinking out of the bottle. "Adia where you at? I'll come and pick you up and show you around the city."
