ADIA
Houston, Texas
Verse One, Chapter ThirteenGoing back home Adia imagined herself being comfortable but that was proven to be false as soon as she opened her front door and was met with glass scattered all across her marble floor.
"What the hell?" She peered around the corner looking for any form of danger. Ritz began barking and growling loudly inside of his cage that Adia held in one hand while her cat sat in the other. She had Africa watching her babies while she was gone and seeing the mess in the front door made her grateful for that.
"Yeah fuck that," Adia closed her door and speed to the elevator and down to the first floor of the building where she asked the receptionist to call the police. There was no way in hell Adia would enter her place not knowing what awaited her.
When the police finally showed up Adia lead them to her apartment and stood outside of the door while they checked it. It didn't take long for them to search her entire condo up and down before coming back out and telling her what they found.
"It looks like somebody trashed your whole apartment."
"My whole-" Adia set her pets down and made sure to not step on any pieces of glass as she entered her home. Mouth gaping Adia looked around at her entirely trashed home in shock. Her couch had been ripped up with maybe scissors or a knife. All of her mirrors were smashed along with the bookcase that had been pushed over in what looked to be a fit of rage. Inside her kitchen, all of her food that was in her refrigerator had been thrown all across the floor. Cups, plates, and silverware had been smashed to pieces. She dreaded going into her bedroom but knew she had to access the damage.
Stepping inside of the room she saw that her mattress had been flipped over and split open down the middle. Her dresser and television were smashed, her closet door was open, and a strong bleach smell came from the bathroom. Following the smell, she went into her destroyed bathroom where she saw most of her clothing was thrown into the bathroom and drenched with bleach. The smell was so horrendous it made her dizzy and she had to leave before passing out. On the way out of the bathroom through she noticed that her fishbowl which held her beloved goldfish, Mirco had been filled with bleach and Mirco laid upside down in the water. Adia bit her lip hard as she passed the policemen who were still taking pictures of everything.
Micro had an automatic feeder which meant that he didn't have to go to Africa's house and Adia could leave him alone. She felt sick to her stomach knowing somebody could do that to an innocent creature.
She walked into her spare bedroom seeing the same things, clothes thrown everywhere, and everything smashed to pieces. She walked out of the room and back to her kitchen smelling something burning coming from there. When she entered she saw a policeman pulling out a pan that had a tiny notebook inside of it. Adia immediately recognized it as her songbook.
Gasping she rushed over grabbing a towel so she wouldn't burn herself in the process. She tried to carefully pick the book up but as soon as she lightly touched it the page faded to ashes. Adia felt her heart break as the pages were no longer salvageable. There was only one person who would do this to her and she knew exactly who that was.
With her pets still in their cages, Adia drove to Africa's house banging on her front door harder than she intended.
"Dia? Are you okay?" Africa asked with her daughter on her hip.
