ADIA
Houston, Texas
Verse One, Chapter FifteenTwirling the black ballpoint pen in her hands Adia's eyes scanned the blank page lost on what to write next. Kasir had her in the studio every day since her performance and as much as she loved it it was also becoming mentally and physically draining.
"You good over there?" Kasir's big hand planted on her right thigh. Adia looked up at him and smiled seeing his smiling face. Kasir was a very touchy person and honestly, at first, it made her uncomfortable but now she loved it; in fact, she craved his touch on most days.
"Yeah, I just can't think of what to say. My mind is everywhere right now."
"Talk to me what's going on?" Setting her pen down in her lap Adia sighed. She knew that what she was about to say was so wrong but she couldn't stop the way that she was feeling.
"I miss Boss," She mumbled immediately feeling like shit after. "I miss the person he used to be. The person he was when we first started dealing with each other and even before then. He was one of the only men in my life that I trusted and now," She stopped to sigh deeply. "He ain't shit just like everybody else."
Adia hated the fact that she was missing Boss. After all of the lies, he told her and the way he manipulated her towards the end of their dealing she still couldn't bring herself to hate him. Boss made her feel special and like she was the most important woman in the world at one point. It blew her mind how much he changed and how quickly too. She hated herself for the feelings she had.
"Adia you know you're really young which makes you really naive about shit. Why the fuck you sitting up worried about somebody old enough to be your father. The shit was weird for him to even be interested in you in the first place. Stop worrying about it."
"It's hard." She had told Kasir everything about her and Boss and instead of judging her he actually reassured her that she did the right thing in order to survive. His words of reassurance made her feel better about herself. But she still missed him.
"Of course it is. Love is-"
"I didn't love him," She spoke quickly. "I could never love someone who was sleeping with my mother. I guess I just liked the attention he gave me."
"Well whatever it is you need to get over it," She watched his eyes roll slightly as he leaned back in his chair. "Stop stressing over bitches," the sides of her mouth twitched at his words. "You too pretty for that shit." She felt her heart warm at his words and the smile that sat on his face. Kasir was definitely a flirt and he knew what to say at exactly the right moment.
"We need to talk though about something serious." The smile on his face disappeared and Adia felt like she was in trouble. "You gotta come to LA permanently. If we're going to work together I can't always be coming back and forth I be having shit in LA to do too."
Adia knew this was a conversation they would have soon. LA was not a place she wanted to go through it was too busy and she just didn't feel like she belonged there. Plus she was broke.
"With what money? I don't have enough money to move out here this place is expensive as hell." Houston had its outrageous prices but nothing like LA. It would take her years to be able to move there.
