"What's his name again?"
"Hinata Shoyo." The blonde haired girl wiped her mouth before taking a sip of her warm milk.
The interlocutor just nodded while finishing the hot tea she ordered. "Okay, Hitoka." She said. "Let's go, I'll join you to watch your friend play volleyball. I haven't played volleyball in a long time, and I kinda miss it anyway."
The brown eyes before her were rounded. "Wow! Yui-san plays volleyball too?"
She scratched her cheek briefly while trying to hide her restrained smile. "Not me." She answered. "But my acquaintance."
The one named Hitoka didn't ask any further, the little girl was more enthusiastic about watching Hinata Shoyo, her friend from high school, playing volleyball instead of meddling in other people's business. And according to her, it seemed that her friend didn't want to tell her in more detail.
It was December and the winter started to feel all around the corner. Yui tucked her palm in her coat pocket since she's suck with winter. Thinks back to the last time she watched volleyball? When? When she was in high school? Spring Interhigh, maybe? Ah it's been a long time.
The two of them got on the bus from near their apartment. Yes. They're apartment mates. Hitoka is a design student. A year younger, and Yui finds that poor girl busy with her belongings that had been scattered on registration day. That's where Yui got to know Hitoka, until now they become roommates. She still remembers how confused Hitoka's face was. She was really like a chicken losing her mother.
"Yui-san."
"Hmm?"
"Do you like volleyball?"
"Yes, the closest person I know is the one who introduced me to volleyball."
Hitoka nodded her head. "Shoyo is a friend of mine from high school and I'm very happy to see him achieve his dreams."
"So.."
"Why?"
"You guys are dating right?"
The girl named Hitoka shook her head vigorously. "NO!" She really made Yui laugh grimly. "My boyfriend works in a volleyball association."
Yui's eyes widened. "Whoah!" She looked at Hitoka with a playful gaze. "Don't mess with him in the apartment, OK?"
"Yui-san!"
She laughed. Teasing Hitoka is fun, and that thing made the road that should have been quite far was felt close because they have so much to talk about.
The building where the Black Jackals have their match looked enormous. And just like their previous matches, the supporters had filled the building with various attributes.
That sight made Yui feel excited.
A year. It's been a year since she's been keeping up with the Black Jackals in secret. Yes, to watch the person 'closest' to her playing volleyball. The Black Jackals' number one setter.
Miya Atsumu.
She glanced at Hitoka who was no less excited to watch the match. In her heart she was secretly felt grateful to find someone close to the Black Jackals players. She has no idea. But it's just like she was looking for friends and defenders for her every time she watched a Black Jackals' match.
