It was May,
In the thirteenth row, behind the large wall facing the window,
She found that the golden-haired man had suddenly sat in one of the chairs at her favorite place. It was rare for anyone to know this place, but that dark-haired girl was shocked to see their school idol sitting facing the window, and his back was facing her.
Yui approached the athletic figure, leveled him up, and stole a glance at his book; it seemed like a poem. She shifted her gaze to his face, but it seemed that the man was immersed in his reading.
'Ah, he's listening to a song..'
She thought when she saw a pair of earphones attached to both ears. Several notes escaped the earphones and greeted her.
'Die Mainacht'? Brahms?'
She stared at him in disbelief, since it was surprising that he listened to classical music. Between the playing notes of music and the line of words he was reading, his long fingers were scribbling the blank paper in front of him.
25-27, 25-16, 30-32
'Huh? Isn't that..'
Yui suddenly remembered that their school had just been defeated by the high school from Miyagi. Could this be the reason that the man in front of her looked gloomy and hid himself here? That girl cleared her throat, then slowly took off his earphones and whispered.
"Überhüllet von Laub, girret ein Taubenpaar. Sein Entzücken mir vor; aber ich wende mich (Covered by leaves, a pair of doves, Coo to me their ecstasy; but I turn away)."
"W-what?!" He was startled, turned his body in a hurry, and made a very loud screeching sound.
"Sssh.." Yui put her index finger in front of her lips "Don't make a fuss."
"You're the one who surprised me." He hissed.
She smiled at his reaction.
"Hi, Atsumu-san."
*****
"Suche dunklere Schatten, und die einsame Träne rinnt (Seek darker shadows,, and the lonely tear flows down)."
"Huh?"
"That's a continuation of the verse cut that you said earlier."
"Ahh, the poem?" Yui laughed. "If I knew from the start that you like literature, I guess we should meet here often. But.." She was very careful about what she talked about, simply because she didn't know what made the man before her now shut himself in the library instead of on the volleyball court as he was used to. "I didn't expect you to read literature like that. And Brahms—you even listen to classical pieces. OMG, I love him.."
"Ah yes, not many people know about my love for literature and classical music." Atsumu shrugged his shoulders. "I only touch it when I feel like it, because the rest, you know, I love playing volleyball."
Yui laughed.
"Of course I know, which is why I'm surprised you're here."
Atsumu turns to laugh.
"You do come here often, don't you?"
The dark-eyed girl rolled her eyes, as if she were sweeping the entire narrow room behind the wall in the thirteenth row.
"This is my favorite place, and not many people know because it is hidden, but I'm surprised you can find it."
"Umm, actually, I can see you from the window in the stands at the gym." He replied while looking at Yui's face. "You see? That window?" He asked, his hand pointing to the small window across the large window in front of the two of them. "You usually like to take naps here, don't you?"
