Eric woke up the following morning to very good smells. She normally cooked breakfast each morning because of the children. He slipped out of bed and made his way downstairs. Bacon was sizzling, coffee was brewing, and some very delicious omelets were cooking. Hayden and Bella were drawing pictures on manila paper on the breakfast table. It had always been hard leaving Kellie behind when he went on tour. Leaving Kinsey was going to be even harder than that. Leaving these kids that he had grown quite fond of was going to be incredibly hard as well.
“Morning daddy!” Bella called out as soon as she saw Eric standing there watching all them
Kinsey nearly choked on her orange juice when she heard her smallest sister. Eric just smiled and greeted everyone as he walked to where Kinsey was standing watching over the omelets. He leaned over and kissed her cheek affectionately before moving to pour himself a cup of coffee. Kinsey was waiting for Eric to correct the small girl but he never did.
Daisy was working on the bacon for her big sister and was paying attention to nothing else. He sat down next to the high chair where Lane was sitting. The baby was giggling which made Eric smile. He just sat there watching everyone do their thing until Kinsey told all the kids to go wash their hands for breakfast. Kinsey refilled his coffee mug before refilling her own glass with orange juice. He smiled at her as she sat down. Hayden and Bella came running in. Eric helped the two small children back into their seats before cutting up their omelets.
Breakfast was spent with Daisy and Jesse firing question after question about being on tour and what all Eric would be doing. The older man was more than happy to explain what he would be doing and what usually happens out on the road. Naturally they wanted to come along but it wasn’t possible. In a few months the kids would be starting school. He could only smile at their excitement. She was cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast while he played with the children. The bus would be here soon to pick him up for the tour.
The kids finally ran off to go play outside leaving just Kinsey and Eric. She had sat down on the leather l-shaped couch and was reading over the farmer’s almanac about South Carolina. After bringing his bags downstairs, he plopped down next to her silently. He draped his arm over her shoulder as they sat there. He didn’t see Daisy sneak back in and slip something into his laptop bag.
“I’m going to miss you.” She finally whispered, unable to look at him
“I know, baby, I’m really going to miss you too. It’s going to be hard being apart but it’s my job.” He told her
She sighed, “I know it is. I just…….”
“You can tell me anything.” He stated, squeezing her shoulder
“I just don’t want you going out and finding someone who’s…..” She trailed
He moved them so that he could look into her eyes.
“I am with you. I only want to be with you. I care about and won’t hurt you, OK?” He stated, holding both her hands, “I promise you that you have nothing to worry about. I’m always faithful.”
“I know. But there’s so many women out there who are more cultured and more experienced than me.” Kinsey confessed
“Baby I don’t care about that. I don’t want some cheap whore. I don’t want someone who’s easy. You’re a southern woman. I like that. You stick to your beliefs and virtues. I really like that. I’m yours, whole-heartedly, as long as you want me.” He told her
She blushed and smiled at what he told her, “I do want you.”
He smiled at her before leaning over and planting his lips to hers. A moment or so later he deepened their kiss. She leaned further into him just wanting all the contact she could get before he left for several months. He loved it when she wanted contact like this. He was more than attracted to her and loved getting to hold her and kiss her. Breaking their kiss, he moved back to sit next to her.
