8 - Trip to Memory Lane

Nailee and Tanjiro were standing against each other, both in a fighting stance. Mr.Urokodaki was watching them. Although both of them refused to fight each other at first, Urokodaki both beat them to it. Literally.

Suddenly a string of white hair appeared and turned into a snake with purple eyes. Veins popped off Nailee's forehead and her eyes became demonic and snake like.

She pointed at Tanjiro and snakes surrounded him, Tanjiro quickly drew out his training sword and used one of the total concentration breathing. "Water breathing: Second form. Water wheel." He said before a wheel of water came out his sword completely slicing the snakes in two who then quickly vaporized to dust.

Nailee quickly lunged at him using her hand which had claw like nails, Tanjiro quickly jumped over her landing on his feet right behind her and quickly was about to cut her neck with his sword, but he stopped.

"Why did you stop?" Nailee asked, clearly in the back of her head she wanted to die maybe because death might be the best way out of what her father would do to her if he caught her.

"If I did, who would always be there for my sister when me and Mr.Urokodaki are training? Wouldn't she want to meet you when... if she wakes up?" He asked while he drew back his training sword. Nailee's eyes widened and she was holding back tears. She quickly hugged Tanjiro and cried on his shoulder. "Thank you..." She whispered.

The day went on with them training together, both of the children had been exhausted by fighting each other so that Tanjiro could be ready for final selection. But Urokodaki said there will be a different task waiting for Tanjiro tomorrow, one where he had to slice a boulder. Only then will his master consider him ready for final selection.

Later that night, Tanjiro sat close to Nezuko who was getting her hair pet by Nailee as she was stupidly smiling at Nezuko while she slept.

"Nailee?" her head shot up as Tanjiro was speaking. She let out a slight hum before Tanjiro began. "Why do you always have a scent of sadness whenever I say that I'll turn Nezuko human once again?" He asked.

Nailee was surprised, she didn't expect this question at all... It's not that she wasn't ready to talk about that, it's that she feared Tanjiro would think less of her if he found out the same monster that turned Nezuko into a demon is the same one who ruined someone's life. Which is why she decided to tell him the story, leaving Muzan's part out.

"You see, Tanjiro... You're not the first who tried to turn a demon back into a human."

Flashback

"Me and my sister once had a friend..."

"I'm Hinata." She introduced herself to the twins. The girl has short pink hair and her eyes were green. "I'm Naigee, and this is my sister." Naigee said "I'm Nailee, It's nice to meet you."

"One day my sister accidentally was caught by her in her demon form..."

"N-naigee...?" Hinata asked. Nailee quickly ran towards her sister stopping my sister. Naigee's facials turned back into the ones a human has. "I-I-I'm really sorry, Hinata... I don't know what came over me."

"Although she found out me and my sister are both an abomination, she didn't push us away like everyone else would have. Instead she made us appreciate it. She never wanted to become one herself but she still wanted us to embrace that."

"That was until one night..."

"Hinata-" Naigee said. "You're a demon..." The twins stared at her as she was devouring one of her family members not even knowing what she's doing. After she realized what she had done she started crying, Nailee and Naigee ran towards her and hugged her from both sides providing some sort of comfort.

"My friend had been turned into a demon, Me and my sister knew a way to turn her back but we weren't sure of what could happen." Nailee spoke. "So, you say... you know how to turn her back?" Tanjiro asked.

"I possess the power to turn humans into demons, and so does my sister. But we promised to never use that ability ever." Nailee said as she looked at Tanjiro. "After all, none of us have the intention to create more of them."

"However me and my sister were ordered by..." Nailee stopped herself, she didn'twant to speak out her fathers name "...Someone to turn Hinata into a demon, we both refused and so that... Thing decided to take matters to his own hand."

"Even though we told him she doesn't want to be one. Even if we tell him we don't possess his powers... He still went his way." Naigee said. "We can fix this, Naigee. We have to work together. Hinata can be human again." Nailee said.

"Me and my sister restrained and did a spell on Hinata, it worked. She actually became human again" Nailee said and smiled at the last part. Before she could start telling the story again she started to cry

"But It wasn't for long..."

"NOOO- HINATA!!!" Nailee yelled as her friend's body started to turn into a tar of skin and blood.

"S-She's dead." Naigee said under her breath as she began to cry.

"And that's why I get sad to myself whenever you speak of turning Nezuko back into a human." She said as she had one of her hands in Nezuko's hair.

"I may have been cursed with this existence since birth, but Hinata wasn't. Nezuko wasn't." Nailee said wiping some of the tears that had stained her face "I'd never wish that to anyone either."

"I'm really sorry." Tanjiro said "But if you didn't help me today in training, I wouldn't be as good as I was."

Nailee sighed and stood up. "You should go rest, you have training tomorrow. Go sleep." Nailee said as she walked away.

Nailee went outside and sat down, she looked up to the moon and reminiscent what had happened after Hinata died.

"You see, girls?" Muzan spoke and crouched down as Nailee and Naigee held what was left of Hinata's kimono. "This is what happens to those who find out about our secret." Muzan added.

"Although, I'm impressed. You managed to turn the girl back into a human for what seemed like 15 minutes?" Muzan said as he stood up and walked away. The twins had tears in their eyes. "I'm proud of you."

Nailee was looking up at the stars as she released tears one last time.
