"Why do we even have to take Defence against the dark arts. It's not like we're going against dark wizards anytime soon." Mary whined as we left the the classroom. " You don't know that, I heard  'you know who' is recruiting a bunch of pureblood family's to join him." Marlene responded,  "Can we not talk about this?"

I said standing uncomfortably standing between the two. "Sorry," They both replied. The rest of the walk back to Gryffindor tower was quiet until we ran into James and Remus who where just leaving charms. We all greeted eachother and began walking again. "Where is Sirius? I thought he had charms with you."

Mary asked. "Mcgonagall's office." The boys responded in unison. " Of course he is, why wouldn't he be." Mary said rolling her eyes.

      "Why do you care so much where Sirius is?" Marlene asked with a grating voice. "I don't care that much I was just wondering." Mary responded slightly annoyed, "Sure." Marlene replied roughly. "God you are so annoying! Why can't I ever just say something without you making it a big thing!"

       Mary snapped before turning and walking away quickly. The four of us where quiet for a few minutes before we arrived at the portrait hole, "dilligrout" Marlene said angrily at the portrait. The second we entered Marlene stomped off to our dorm. "Aren't you going to go after her?" James asked plopping himself down on a sofa, Remus doing the same.

      "Nah, she likes to be left alone when she's angry, and anyways she's probably already waiting for Mary to come up so she can apologize. I said, sitting in a seat adjacent to them and slinging my legs over the side. "Oh" James said, slightly red in the face. "Yep." " Wait so they just have "angry" sex after they fight?"

Remus asked, "Yeah" I said staring at him for a second before bringing my eyes down to my lap. "And that works?" He asked, in  a confused tone.  "S'pose so." I said grabbing a cig from my bag, and lighting it with my wand.

"Do you want a cigarette?" I asked Remus, saying the word with a slight french accent, "Sure" he said leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. I gabbed another one out of my bag and well making eye contact I placed it gently between his lips and lit it. He leaned back, and I watched him inhale a large cloud of smoke and blow it out, he rolled his eyes back slightly and rested his head against the back of the couch. God I don't think I've ever wanted to be a cigarette more than I do right now.

We talked about more about random things, our plans for Hogsmeade, quidditch (which was mainly James), and why Sirius was in detention. Apparently Sirius had manged to set not only his desk but two desk's beside him on fire. Bloody idiot that one. Our conversation ended when James said he had a stomach ache and Remus went with him to Madam Pomfrey's, I offered to go with but they insisted that I stay here. A few minutes after they left I decided to go back to my dorm, I never saw Mary come back so I wasn't worried about walking in on anything.

I walked into the room and saw Lily sitting on her bed finishing up what I assumed was potions homework, and the curtains around Marlene's bed where shut. I looked at Lily with a 'is she ok?' look, she shook her head no. I let out a sigh and walked over to my bed. "Hey can you play that old record? The Linda Ronstadt one?" Marlene asked peeking her head out of her curtains, her eyes where puffy and her nose was running. "Sure." I responded grabbing 'Long Long Time' out of my stack records. We sat in silence listening to the soft melody play.
