Leila's POV

Adam's health improved significantly, that at the end of the week he was back to his old self. Emilia had been praying for her Dad, and we prayed together so that he'd get better quickly. The prayers definitely worked.

When we went to church, I sat with Adam and Emilia. While the pastor spoke, I saw that Adam was far away, deep in thought and I wondered what was wrong with him. Maybe the pastor's sermon was getting to him.

He was speaking about grace, and how it was like a flood that was undeserved and unearned. All we had to do was believe in Jesus. Did he feel like he didn't deserve it? I decided that I'd talk to him about it later.

When the sermon was over, people parted ways going in different destinations. I had packed my bag so I took it and went with Tori for the weekend.

We were watching TV when she suddenly spoke, breaking the silence.

"Girl! We got a sports day tomorrow."

" What's this sport thing you talking about? No announcement was made."

"It's done once every four months. People from neighbouring churches are going to come and we're going to play some friendly games. The main aim for this is for people to interact and get to know each other. Trust me. It's fun. "

We never had these back home. I was looking forward to it.

"Which ones?"

"We play tons of them. The headmistress of a nearby school allows us to have the sports there. You and I will play volleyball like the good old days."

Tori and I used to be in the volleyball team in high school. We had so much fun during those days. It ought to be fun. A frown suddenly appeared when a thought came to mind.

"I don't have anything to wear."

She patted my thigh as she stood up and then proceeded to drag me to her room.

"Don't worry. I got you covered."

*********

A wind picked up the moment we got out of Tori's car. The weather's cool condition made it a perfect sports day. I looked about to see a lot of people had already arrived. Men, women, boys and girls wore different colourful attires for different sports.

Tennis, basketball, volleyball, handball, soccer and many others. The elderly were going to the big hall of the school.

"Where are the elderly going?"

"To play elderly people games. We'll worry about that when we get there."

I laughed then, agreeing with her. The sports hadn't begun yet, so people were just talking to each other. We walked to the other volleyball players and we began to talk about the sport. I made new friends from the other churches whom I saved their numbers in my phone so that we would chat some more in the future.

"Players of all sports, come closer. We gotta make some announcements before we begin."

We walked to the makeshift stage, where the MC stood wearing his basketball gear.

"Thank you for coming today. So, before we play, let me just say that we aren't here to compete. This is for fun, I repeat, FUN! Some people ended up getting a little 'emotional' last time at the basketball pitch. We are also here to socialize, so be open with people and who knows, maybe you'll find a special someone."

People began to snicker about, and I even laughed. I wasn't expecting him to say that.

"There are gonna be people selling foods and beverages. You know where they'll be. Tim is our guy on the job and he said that they'll be here any moment. Now, let's pray before we play. God, keep us safe while we play these games. May this place be filled with your presence, so that all goes well. Amen."
