Chapter Twenty
~Dante~
Mishka and I walked to the park, laughing and talking while she grasped her little hand in mine. I told her what the girl with the black hair had said in the club and she was just as angry about it as I was (Okay maybe not that angry, she wasn’t ready to rip the girl’s throat out), but she was petty angry. We got to the edge of the park and Mishka released my hand and ran off towards the swing, I smiled and went to run after her when I heard a chuckle from behind me. Frowning I turned to see a man with dark brown hair and black eyes staring at me with an amused expression on his face. In narrowed my eyes at him and said, “What do you want?”
That’s when I heard a scream, and not just any scream but Mishka’s. I turned towards the direction of the sound and raced off, completely forgetting about the black eyed man. When I got to Mishka she was being dangled by the collar of her shirt, by a guy who I could swear that I’d seen around before, but the thing that made me freeze was the fact that he had red eyes, eyes that looked delighted with the whole situation. Mishka was trying to kick out at the guy holding her, but this seemed to amuse him all the more. I glared at the guy, and said, “Put her down right now, or you’re going to be in a hell of a lot of pain.”
The guy laughed at me, before sobering up and saying, “Really, and whose going to be causing this pain?”
I went to make a step towards him when a voice from behind me said, “I wouldn’t do that if I was you vampire, not if you want the girl to live.”
I turned to find the black eyed guy standing there, a smug look on his face. Glaring at him I said, “Who the hell are you, and what the hell do you want?”
The guy smiled, a smiled that sent chills up my spine, then he said, “My name is Lex, and this here is Shade. And what we want is the Princess.”
My heart stopped in my chest, Lex was the guy that Jessie and Hunter had been talking about, the guy that had been killing all those girls around here. I took a step back and asked, “Why do you want Jessie?”
What he said next made my blood go cold, “To kill her.”
Anger took hold of me, and I went to attack him, but then I heard a cry of fear from Mishka and stopped. I turned to see a knife at her throat, Shade the guy holding her was just slightly digging it into her skin. Lex, who was finding my sisters distress amusing, said, “Now either you come with us and your sister is fine or we kill your sister and you get dragged along behind us.”
I had no choice, there was no way I was losing my sister, so I bowed my head and said, “Where would you like me to go? Not that it will do you much help, I’m just a vampire, why would Jessie care about me?”
Lex chuckled and said, “Oh don’t play me as a fool, I know you are her mate.”
I closed my eyes, as I realized my vulnerability, may just have put Jessie’s life in danger. Lex grabbed my arm and dragged me along, with Shade following behind, Mishka still hanging by the collar of her shirt. We were brought to a large old warehouse and inside were about ten more demons that just stood there and looked at us like we were a new toy their parents had just brought home. Lex walked me towards the back of the warehouse, into a room that looked like it used to be an office, and chained me up to the wall. Lex shoved me down to my knees once the chains were on and smiled cruelly as he said, “You may be thinking, oh chains, but I can break out of these. They are forged from the metals found in hell and not even an angel can break them, so struggle all you like, as you watch.”
I frowned as he walked towards a wall and pulled on a string which rolled up the blind, blind that was covering a large floor to ceiling glass window. On the other side of the window, I could see all the demon’s standing around Shade and Mishka. Lex walked out of the room, closing the door behind him, and walked towards the demons and my little sister. I reached out my senses so that I could hear what they were doing as well as see and what I heard broke my heart. Lex opened out his arms to his demons and said, “Kill her.”
