Chapter Nineteen
I woke up with my face pressed into a hard chest, and strong arms wrapped around my body. I took a deep breath, taking in Dante’s scent, and tilted my head up so that I could get a glimpse of his face. Doing so though, caused me to bump his chin, which earned me a sleepy grunt. I smiled, and reached up to kiss his chin lightly. His arms tightened around me and he moved his mouth to my ear as he whispered, “My head is killing me, I feel like someone hit me with a sledge hammer.”
Amused, I snorted and said, “How much did you drink last night?”
He shook his head then groaned, regretting the movement, before replying, “Too much, way too much. I don’t want to get up, can you got do tonight’s gig for me?”
This caused me to snort again and say, “Yeah no, but I can do this.”
I pushed myself away from Dante and placed a hand his fore head, I channelled healing thoughts into him, imagining that calming water was flowing over and around the inside of his head. After about two minutes I pulled my hand away and smiled at him. Dante frowned at me and said, “How’d you do that, my headaches gone?”
I shrugged my shoulders and sat up in bed, yawing and stretching my arms out over my head, before deciding to reply, “It’s another skill I have from being future queen. The leader of the warrior angels has the ability to heal living beings. So you are lucky you aren’t a dead vampire or I would have been no help to you.”
Dante chuckled and said, “Well if I was a dead vampire I wouldn’t have a hangover because they can’t get drunk.”
I grinned, “I could always just poke you in the chest with a knife and help you out with that.”
Dante raised a brow at me, “Oh really?”
My grin widened and I placed a finger over his chest, right where his heart was thumping against his rib cage, “Yeah I could just push the knife in here and poof, dead vampire.”
He nodded at me, before a grin took hold of his face and he jumped at me. He pushed me back down onto the bed, covering my body with his own and stared down into my eyes, causing me to bite my lower lip. He then lowered his mouth to my ear and whispered, “You would miss me too much.”
I snorted, even though he was right, there was no way that I could ever really hurt him, but I wasn’t giving him that pleasure so I replied with, “If you say so.”
He didn’t reply to me, instead he lowered his mouth to my neck and began trailing soft kisses down towards my collar bone. Without my consent, my eyes fluted closed and my hand moved to tangle itself in his hair. I was so distracted that I didn’t realize that someone had opened Dante’s bedroom door until I heard someone cough, you know in that way people cough when they are trying to get your attention, yeah like that. My eyes shot open and I sat up, pushing Dante away from me with my palms, so that I could sit upright. When I turned to look at the door with a red face, Fringe was standing there looking amused. I looked back to see that Dante was pouting at me; I rolled my eyes at him and turned towards Fringe saying, “Hi Fringe.”
Fringe smirked, “Hey Jessie, getting comfortable here I see.”
My face heating up all the more, I went to respond only to be cut off by Dante saying, “What do you want Fringe?”
The smirk left Fringes face and he turned to Dante, all business now and said, “We have a gig tonight, get your ass out of bed and get dressed.”
Dante groaned and replied, “Do I have too?”
Fringe rolled his eyes at his friend and said, “Yes”, before turning his back on us and walking out the door. Dante snorted quietly, and then turned back to me with a half-smile. I raised a brow at him and asked “What?”
