Marinette's POV

My eyes fluttered open as I woke up and got dressed for school.

I was still in the winter vacation phase. Why did we have to go back to school!  All I wanted to do was to be wrapped up in Adrien's arms as we sat by the fire like on Christmas Eve.

As you can picture, I had a fun winter break "snuggling and snogging with Adrien" as my best friend, Alya so lovingly puts it.

I smiled and rubbed the heart shaped locket he had given me for my fifteenth birthday.

How long had we been dating? Two years? Wow.  Time sure flies.

It makes sense when the person your dating is your soulmate. I felt a smile appear on my face as I ran down the stairs.

I decided to wear a fluffy pink dress with blue pastel boots. I'm well aware that it's winter but I'll only be outside for like a minute at the most.

My mom beamed up at me as I was coming down.  I blushed nervously while playing with my locket.

"I can't believe my daughter is almost seventeen! Oh what an exciting time!" She hummed.

"Yep! Only two more days till' I get my string!" I giggled.

"I wonder who you'll get! I knew it was your father two months after my birthday, when we got ice-cream at Andre's-"

"And you saw a flower on the back of his hand.  The very same one you had drawn on yours, ten minutes before." I finished.

She nodded with her kind gray eyes.

I knew their story by heart and I wanted one just like it.  I know I'm a hopeless romantic but I just can't help that two days from now I'll have access to my destined soulmate! Although I already know who it was... or so I thought...

"I wonder who it's gonna be..." My mom tried as I grabbed my lunch and kissed her.

"Bye, Mom~"

I ran outside to see my ride and boyfriend: Adrien Agreste.

He grinned at me with his pearly white teeth.  I swear we may have been dating for almost two years but I always swooned when he flashed me that smile-

"Hey Princess." He said as he got out of the car to greet me.

I jumped into my arms mostly for affection, partially for the warmth.  Keep in mind it was 20 degrees and I was in a dress.  He ran his hands up my arms and gently placed me in the car.

Something was wrong though.  He seemed different today...

Cranking up the heat, Adrien looked up at me nervously, before looking back down.

"What?"

"Are you going to breakup with me?" He said quietly. Just above a whisper for me to hear...

Those words.  My skin turned to ice even with the warmth radiating off of the car.  My heart felt like it was thumping out of my chest in fear.

"WHAT-NO- Why would you ever think that!?"

"Well... most people on their seventeenth birthdays breakup with their boyfriend or girlfriend to find their soulmate..." he trailed off nervously.

"Adrien, no. No. Of course not." I tried to punctuate my words with every breath.  My hands found my way to his hair as I started deeply in his eyes.  Hoping that my eyes reassured him that I was his.  Hoping that he would still love me after my seventeenth birthday.

Turns out he was hoping the same.

"The chances of me being your soulmate are pretty slim." He chuckled sadly.

"I'll take those chances then." I replied as I kissed him on the cheek.  "I love you Adrien Agreste and no one else."

He blushed, "I love you too, Mari," and with that we started the car, and were off to school.

As we walked into school a familiar voice pricked my ears, "AYE ADRIEN!" Nino, Adrien's best friend shouted across the hallway.

And as if on cue-

Oh god.  Fangirls.  A bunch of them had come screaming and ran toward him.  Adrien was a model so it wasn't like it was unnatural for girls to crowd him but- Sometimes this was a little overwhelming.  I rolled my eyes. We had only been on break for two weeks.  Why did they miss him so much?

"Hi Adrien~" Lila beckoned.  I rolled my eyes even more at that.

"Hey Lila!" He gave her a wink.

I rolled my eyes again.  Yep just a normal day at school.  Sometimes I really hated having a famous boyfriend.  It seemed so much easier when girls wouldn't cling to him.  Not the case here.

Especially Lila, I knew they modeled together but something about her was just so... off putting-

Why did he wink at her though?

I looked around the room and saw my old lab partner before the break: Luka.  His hair was in its usual bed head form, and his blue eyes matched up with dyed tips of them.

I gave him a small wave and he nodded back before turning away.

He's a bit moody and sarcastic though and doesn't really talk that much. I'm pretty sure I may have scared him away because I couldn't stop talking about Adrien.

Adrien noticed my exchange with Luka, before placing his arm protectively around my shoulder.

I rolled my eyes for what it felt like the millionth time that day. I love this boy but for someone who flirts with other girls he's so

And Luka- I barely even know him- he's just a friend.  Not even a friend we were partners on a project.

Sadly that couldn't be farther from the truth as you all will soon find out.  And this is how I fell in love with that very same idiot boy.  And it all starts on my seventeenth birthday.
