I don't know much about Dutch Christmas traditions so forgive me if I make any mistakes.

Food is definitely the best part of Christmas. Jill's mums baking has certainly made its way into my heart. I've only been here a few hours and I've certainly made myself comfortable. We've been watching Christmas movies in the lounge. Jill started snuggling up to me on the sofa which made me feel a bit strange. I can't imagine being this comfortable around my parents to be my complete self. With that in mind I'm definitely going to take advantage of how liberal Jill's family are. I love just lying in her arms. I couldn't think of anyone better to spend Christmas with.

"Where can I find this loo?" I asked

"Loo?" Jill's dad questioned

"She means toilet, I'll show you" said Jill

This gave us a chance to have a chat.

"That wasn't so bad was it?" Jill said in reference to my earlier anxiety

"You're family are amazing, I can't imagine what growing up with them must have been like. My parents aren't even half as nice"

"I'm sure they aren't that bad" she said gesturing me into the bathroom

"You coming?" I said winking at Jill

"We can't, they'll wonder where we went" Jill responded but I could tell she was tempted

"Later then" I went to the toilet whilst Jill waited outside "about later, what time do you want to head off"

"I'm not sure, I want to stay as long as possible so we can eat Christmas Eve dinner with everyone"

I could tell she was sad about not spending the actual day with her family. I think that she thinks it's too much to ask of me for us to stay until tomorrow. She surprised me with this trip so I thought I could surprise her too. "I packed us some clothes this morning, if it's okay with your mum, it's okay with me if you want to stay for tomorrow"

"Really?" she said "you have no idea how much I love you!" At this point Jill was almost jumping in joy

We went back towards the lounge to catch the rest of the film. As we sat down I was immediately offered some more food. I was stuffed so I couldn't oblige. I shared a look with Jill and we both developed massive grins on our faces.

"What are you two smiling about" asked Jill's brother Boyd.

"Will there be enough food for us tomorrow if we stay tonight?" Jill asked

I could see so much happiness appear on everyone's faces when the question left Jill's lips. Her mum couldn't have been quicker in reassuring her there's always enough food. It seemed to make everyone's day. Jill gave me a peck on the lips to thank me. The film soon ended.

"Shall I get the bag out of the car and bring it in" i said. Jill responded with a nod.

But before I could get there Davy stood in the way of the door as the rest disappeared back into the lounge. I felt that there would be a friendly warning coming soon. Jill's family are so lovely I wouldn't have been surprised if they were equally protective. I braced myself for what he was about to say.

"You're our guest, let me get it for you. Jill should have offered but she can be so lazy sometimes can't she?"

This made me burst out in panicky laughter. What a relief! In all fairness to him he was right, Jill can be a little lazy but no more so than me so I hardly ever notice it.

"Thank you, it's funny because it's true"

"I'll take it up to Jill's room for you, did she show you where that is?"

"Yeah we had a look around earlier"

"Brilliant, so you'll know that it's right next to my room so I'll appreciate it if you don't get up to any funny business tonight"

This made me blush. I couldn't promise anything to him. Something about the Christmas spirit is making me love Jill even more and we all know what that leads to.
