Once I'd cheered up a little Jill got a telling off for being nosey. Despite being 22 it was clear she was still a child in the eyes of her mother. "Please wait for your brothers to wake up before you tear open your presents"

Jill responded like a toddler "but they will be ages, can't we go and wake them up now?" She pleaded with her mother.

Not keen to give up her mum told her to wait 30 minutes and if they still weren't up she could go and get them. I felt bad on her brothers it wasn't even 8 o'clock before Jill was tearing them out of bed one by one. I stood at the top of the stairs whilst she aggressively screamed at her brothers resembling the most annoying alarm clock. I was just thankful that it wasn't just my sleep Jill had disrupted.

They were incredibly grumpy but agreed to come down for breakfast. I was still entirely full from the meal the night before so I didn't indulge in breakfast. Jill on the other hand took full advantage of the impressive spread her mum put out. I think she thought the quicker she ate the quicker she could open her presents. I was a bit nervous to give her my gift in front of her family.

Once we had finished we all sat around the tree in the lounge. Davy took the responsibility of handing out presents. Obviously I didn't have many as mine where all packed up in a suitcase waiting at Jill's house for when we get back. Jill however had loads. Her friends and family had truly spoiled her. She didn't want me to feel left out so she let me open a few of hers. It got around to the time where I was given my gift from her parents.

"When Jill introduced us to you while you were in London, we instantly knew that you would be around for a while. I've not seen Jill that happy in a long time. The next day I went out to make sure I had a Christmas present for you. I was intending on posting it to you but it's even better that you are here"

I opened up the neatly wrapped gift to find a mug. Now you might think that a mug is the most unoriginal gift but there was meaning behind it. "Whilst on the call i remember you saying how at Jill's house everyone had their own mug and you weren't entirely sure which ones you could use. So I got you your own. It's only a little gift but I hope you like it"

"I love it, that's so thoughtful" i gave her mum a hug. "Davy would you mind handing Jill her present from me"

He obliged. Jill looked very excited which made me nervous. Inside the box was a charm. It was a little duck. "I thought it could go on your bracelet that you got us when you were in Manchester" following this we had to explain what the relevance of the duck was. Boyd congratulated Jill on being a successful romantic. She enjoyed this very much. Being good at something is the best feeling for someone as competitive as her.

Next up was her present to me. However she didn't have anything with her so I was a bit confused. "I don't have it with me right now because we weren't supposed to be here. Back at the hotel I arranged for us to spend a day in the spa. But that's not all, I've also got a physical gift" she went on to say how she bought me Arsenal pyjamas. According to her she bought them before we even knew about my move. She thought it would be funny as the first time she stayed at mine she was forced to wear city training clothes to bed.

"I have to say that's probably the most practical gift. I don't have an awful lot of pyjamas in all fairness"

"I'm sure Jill doesn't mind when you run out" Boyd said whilst winking trying to embarrass his sister. She blushed but it was her father that came off worse.

"None of that thank you or you'll put me off my lunch"

I was very excited for lunch. Having skipped breakfast I was just about ready to demolish any food put in front of me. What Jill's mum was cooking wasn't too dissimilar to what I would usually have on Christmas.

"Can I give you a hand with anything" I said before correcting myself "sorry, it means can I help you?"

At this point Jill was in the lounge with her brothers squabbling over something trivial. Her mum seemed grateful for the peace in the kitchen.

"No that's fine thank you. I'm glad someone offered, those three seem a bit preoccupied. What is it that's making them so loud"

"I have no idea" i said before retreating back to the lounge. Soon enough they quietened down and Jill's mum announced that the food was ready. It's safe to say that she is the best cook I've come across. The food was phenomenal.

Whilst we were eating Jill kept on touching my leg. Thankfully it was discrete so no one noticed. After we had finished eating Jill offered to clean everything up. This took her mum by complete surprise. A suggestion was made about a family walk. This left me and Jill home alone. She knew exactly what she was doing. As soon as the door shut and they had left she grabbed my hand and dragged me up the stairs to her bed.
