Today we had a day off. We were meant to be going to IKEA to do some shopping but Jill and I decided that we would rather just have a date day. We hadn't been able to go on a date in a long time because life had got fairly hectic recently. The weather wasn't the best in the morning so we decided to set up in front of the telly watching a film until it brightened up. Lia was out so we had the house to ourselves. Neither of us paid much attention to what we were watching. Instead we paid attention to each other, something we hadn't had time to do for a while.
I was sat beside her on the sofa, she had her arms around me. I placed my head on her chest. I could feel her heart beating. I liked being this close to her. We've been together a little while now but I still have the same butterflies from the day we met.
I turned my head to look at her, she was so gorgeous. "I love you" I said
"I love you more" she replied and then began to tickle me
I couldn't stay still I was so ticklish. She found it hilarious so she continued. Eventually I wiggled until we were face to face. I lent in and kissed her. She responded by grabbing my cheek and deepening the kiss. I didn't pull away. I simply didn't want to. We spun and I ended up sat on her lap on the sofa. The tv carried on playing but we ignored it. Our lips hardly left each other's.
Eventually we found ourselves going upstairs to the bedroom.
This time she was in my arms sat in bed. Just for a second we started to talk about my brother. I quickly shut down the conversation. I was having fun just being with the girl I love. I don't want to talk about my problems right now.
We got dressed again. By now the sun was out. "Fancy a walk" I suggested
"Not as much as I fancy you" she replied
I just winked back at her and went to get out coats. It was a bright but cold day. I hadn't had much time to explore the area since moving from Manchester. We packed up a picnic basket and headed towards the park.
We ate our lunch on the grass by the pond she asked me to be her girlfriend in. "Remember what happened here?" She asked
"Of course, how could I forget" i responded "poor old lady" i then joked
"I love making the elderly uncomfortable with you" said Jill
"I hope we make more old people uncomfortable for many years to come" i said "I'm so glad I met you"
"I'm so glad we got subbed on at the same point, otherwise I wouldn't have had the chance to talk to you" she said
"I would have found an excuse to talk to you" i admitted
"Really, did you have a little crush" she joked
"Yes of course I did. why wouldn't I of? You're gorgeous" i said
"Good so did I" she admitted
"Really?" I asked
"Yeh, I was a bit gutted when i worked up the confidence to talk to you on the sideline and you shut me down. I had to play off my disappointment when you apologised during the game" she admitted
"I'm sorry I was really tired that day" i said
"It's okay it worked out in the end" she said
"Worked out very well. I couldn't imagine not having you in my life anymore"
"I wouldn't want to imagine" she said so I kissed her. Only a quick peck as we were in public
"Bagsy not doing the washing up" i said
"Last one home has to do it" she said before running off. I grabbed the basket and ran after her.
This was the point I hated that we were professionals. Any normal couple would have stopped racing after the got to the gates of the park but no, not us. We were so competitive we ran all the way home. Unfortunately she beat me.
"Aha you have to do it" she said
"That's not fair you left me with the basket" I argued
"Fair enough, do you think if we leave it in Lia's way she'll do it?" Jill suggested
"Worth a shot" I laughed "she won't be happy about it"
"Probably not but hey ho" she said "do you want to go and actually watch the film this time"
"Sure" i said
We attempted to watch the film for the second time but ended up falling asleep in front of the tele.
Lia came home. "For fucks sake" she shouted as she got to the kitchen. Jill looked at me, we both thought it would be safer if we pretended to still be asleep. When Lia got into the lounge she just stood there for a minute and disappeared. Next thing we knew she was coming back with a saucepan and a wooden spoon. She clattered them together making a racket.
We both jumped up in shock "you bastard" I screamed
"Me?" She said trying to look innocent "you're the one who's left all the mess in the kitchen"
"I'll sort it out later" offered Jill
"No don't bother, I'll do it" Lia said "but in return you have to go pick Caitlin up from the airport"
That seemed like a good deal at the time.
