Cas reappeared to see all three of his friends sitting in the library. They seemed to be relatively quiet, simply waiting for Cas to come back.

"Cas you alright?" The angel nodded, watching Avis carefully. She wouldn't meet his gaze, worried that she would be able to forgive him, and right now she couldn't. She needed to be mad at him, she couldn't blame herself, not yet.

"Why me?" Her voice was quiet but the softness frightened Cas more "I mean if you were worried about fighting a war or battling Lucifer, I would get it. I'm more experienced than Alex and Jasper combined. But you weren't, you aren't cold enough to be worried about a battle rather than the people in it. So why?"

Dean and Sam looked between the two. Dean knew the answer but wanted to see if Cas would simply tell her. Maybe then he could figure out her connection to Gabe. Sam, however, was not in the loop and was the most confused out of the group.

"It was an instinct. I didn't realize who I was taking" Dean silently cursed the angel for lying, but Avis's expression switched to a passive-aggressive smirk.

"Bullshit." She stood up and walked towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Cas walked after her, Sam and Dean following, and she stopped for a second not wanting to leave without at least explaining

"I'm going back. I didn't spend 7 years in a basement to live in another one and constantly wonder what happened to them." Avis tried to calm down for a second and turned to the Winchesters "thank you for your help, I'm sorry to drag you into this," then turned back to Cas "I'm going to either save whatever friends I have left or destroy the dick that killed them. Don't try to stop me, you'll lose."

Cas stayed quiet, only nodding knowing she wouldn't stand down. Once she had her mind on something there was nothing that could stop her, he admired it but knew it was going to get the woman killed one day.

Dean and Sam waited for Cas to say something, thinking he would stop her. But instead, Avis walked out the door.

Lucifer stood in the basement of the Initiative. The bodies of the guards that Avis and the others had killed still laid there. Lifeless. Only one of the cages was occupied now, but the lighting of the room concealed whoever it was.

Lucifer wore a nearly defeated smile and adjusted the lab coat he wore. It was partially covered in blood, but he didn't even seem to notice. His dark laugh filled the room, and he moved a hand through his hair

"I underestimated your friend, teaming up with the Winchesters... that's gonna bite her in the ass" He monologued to the prisoner that was left "But I'm not done with her yet, you see my brother has taken an interest in her. I plan to find out why."

"She's gonna stop you" The voice finally spoke. You could hear now that it was a man "She's faced a lot worse than you. You picked the wrong person to mess with, Lucifer"

"That's where your wrong kid, I chose the perfect person. Because she isn't going to stop until she gets you back. Even if it means leading herself right to me."

"Why didn't you stop her Cas?" Sam and Dean had just watched Avis leave, basically ready to take on the devil, and Cas do nothing to prevent it

"Because nothing I said would have mattered." He sighed and shoved his hands in the pocket of his trench coat, the Winchesters looked at him in disbelief

"Cas you just rescued her from the Lucifer but have no issue with her going after him now? How does that even make sense to you?" Dean didn't really understand why he cared but at the same time, he did. No matter who this woman was or how she was connected to Gabriel, there was no way they were going to let her take on the devil by herself

"It's not that. When I took her instead of the others it was because Gabriel asked it of me," Sam widened his eyes as Cas revealed this. He hadn't been present during the original revelation so when he looked at Dean and noticed his lack of a response, he figured he was simply the last to know "Now she is free to do what she wants. Not to mention she could easily overpower me and there is barely anything I could do to stop her"

"So, you're telling me she is more powerful than an angel?" Dean raised an eyebrow his voice rising slightly towards the end. Cas nodded, not understanding why he was worried

"Look Dean, you don't need to worry about her. If anything, you two should be happy, now you don't have to worry about Lucifer." He walked past them, and Sam and Dean shared a look

"You're just letting her handle this alone? I mean what if he hurts her or-"

"Sam she is literally half-god. What could either of you or me possibly do to help her?" Cas sighed frustrated. Deep down he wanted to help Avis, but what was going to happen next was prophecy and Castiel knew he couldn't interfere

"Fair point, but still-" Sam tried to reason but Cas stopped walking and harshly turn to face the brothers

"No. She does this alone, with no questions. No last-minute rescues." The sound of fluttering wings was the first warning that the Winchesters to know that the angel was no longer standing in front of them

"I hate it when he does that." Dean mumbled frustrated "I don't get it, man, it's like he doesn't even care"

"We don't know what's going on in his head right now Dean, maybe it has something to do with the whole Gabriel thing?" Sam was a little annoyed Dean never mentioned it, but they had bigger things to worry about right now

"Maybe. But whatever it is we are making sure Avis doesn't get herself killed. Lucifer is our problem, not hers" Sam nodded in agreement even though he was surprised his brother cared so much about saving someone they just met, and that Dean wasn't exactly adamant about trusting.

"So, if I was a demigod where would I go?" Sam rose the questions and the boys sighed. This was going to be a long night.
