And we return(I updated twice in one day!) - Livvy

“Get away from her!” Keefe growled. Sophie glanced over at him. His face was beat red and fists were clenched tightly. If the Neverseen hadn’t been encased in their own force field he probably would’ve killed them. Sophie sucked in a breath and pulled herself to her feet. SHe took in her surroundings. Edaline was holding Grady back, Dex was rushing over to Keefe’s side, Fitz was shielding his parents, and the rest of the elves were pale with terror. In the force field in front of her there were four cloaked figures, Vespera, Gethen, Ruy, and Gisela. Sophie’s blood boiled at the sight of her.

“What do you want?” Sophie asked once her breathing had steadied.

“Oh, we just thought we would join the party. It’s a very big night for the Moonlark after all.” Gisela said with a smirk that looked too much like Keefe’s. Sophie’s vision dimmed but she forced down the knot in her stomach.

“What do you want?” Sophie repeated, standing straighter. Gethen snorted and stalked to the edge of the force field.

“You think you’re so tough don’t you?” He asked mockingly. Sophie’s face turned as red as a tomato as she strode to the edge of her own force field.

“I’m tough enough to handle you.” She retorted. Gethen scowled and Sophie held her head higher.

“Oh, please will you two stop acting like children.” Gisela rolled her eyes and waved her hand in Gethen’s direction. Gethen growled and walked back over to where he had been standing earlier.

“Answer my question.” Sophie said through gritted teeth.

“I believe we informed you of our intentions on making an appearance.” Vespera answered with an evil glint in her eye. That’s when it hit Sophie like a punk to the gut. The threat. The last time that voice had been in Sophie’s head it had told her that if she didn’t corporate then plan B wouldn’t be pretty. Sophie dug her heels into the ground and bit her bottom lip.

“So, this is plan B? What happens next?” Sophie asked, trying to hide the concern and fear in her voice.

“Oh, you’ll see soon enough.” Vespera assured her. Vespera glided over to Sophie and peered into her brown eyes.

“Fascinating.” She whispered, obviously intrigued.

“Care to share.” Keefe growled.

“You wouldn’t understand even if I explained it in the simplest way possible.” Vespera didn’t take her eyes off Sophie. Sophie gulped and scrunched the fabric of her dress in her fists.

“Try me.” Grady snapped. Vespera tore her gaze from Sophie and turned to look at the crowd.

“What we have here is an experiment on an experiment.” Vespera said with a cold, menacing, and emotionless smile. Sophie shivered. Then realization dawned on her.

“Experiment..”

“On an experiment. Keep up.” Vespera rolled her eyes and adjusted the neckline of her dress. Sophie grinded her teeth together and her vision dimmed.

“I’m not an experiment!” She retorted, letting the fury stir inside her but not unleashing it.

“Oh, aren’t you?” This time it was Gisela who spoke.

“She’s not!” Keefe yelled, the only reason he didn’t launch at the force field was because of Dex’s steadying hand on his shoulder. Suddenly, Sophie saw something glow under the four cloaked figures sleeves. Sophie narrowed her eyes but Gethen stepped in front of the figures and gritted his teeth.

“So, here’s how this is going to work.” Gisela started clapping her hands “We’re going to escort Sophie..”

“Yeah, you can stop right there.” Grady interrupted.

“No one is taking Sophie anywhere.” Keefe finished. Fitz, Grady, Dex, and Keefe circled Sophie’s force field and took up a fighting stance.

“If you would’ve let me finish then you would’ve realized that handing Sophie over to us is the wisest decision for everyone.” Gisela said with a sigh.

“And you should realize that last time you tried to kidnap Sophie it didn’t go very well, and this time won’t end any better.” Keefe told his Mother.

“Like I said, it would be in the best interest of everyone.” Gisela emphasized the last word and Sophie felt her stomach twist. A light flashed from the same place again.

“Wait a minute. Is that..” Dex trailed off and his eyes widened “How could you?!”

“Ah, I see you’ve discovered our little scheme Mr. Dizznee.” Gisela smirked again.

“No.” Sophie whispered when she understood what was happening.

“Yes.” Vespera smiled coldly and Gethen pulled back the hoods of the four figures.

“No!” Sophie shouted, and she felt like vomiting when she saw Biana’s, Tam’s, Linh’s, and Marella’s terrified faces
