"Enough of that." Jane hissed at me with an annoyed look on her face.
Felix, Demetri, and Alec chuckled beside us as we continued to lay our day away. After a stroll around the area, and just fed, we had the day to ourselves. There was no need for Aro or Caius to use the guards, so they had kept me company in the bedroom Aro graciously let me reside in. It's been weeks since the first taste of human blood in decades. And by god, it was refreshing. It'd been so long since I mixed animal blood and human blood that I forgot how much stronger I was with it. No where near the Volturi's strengths, but much stronger and focused than when I was on strictly animals.
It was usually late at night I would feed, when the worst people would come out at night. The thieves, the rapists, and the murderers. The people that scavenged the streets looking for their prey not realizing there was an actual predator out for themselves... it was riveting. The hunt was more enticing than I remembered and I embraced the lingering fear on their faces the moment they knew their lives were ending.
Since ingesting human blood, I've developed my powers tremendously. Not only am I able to feel what everyone else feels, much like Jasper, I no longer had to stare at someone to make them feel how I want them to. Probably the best thing about my development was the fact I was able to block out the power whenever I want to. There was an off switch I was able to activate within myself. I don't use it often but it was comforting to be able to turn it off when I'd like to.
The control I had over my gifts were beyond me and even Aro. He's never seen such a development in only a few weeks but he did mention that Prudence was immensely powerful as well. He still hadn't mentioned what her powers were and none of the guards would tell me what it was in fear of him. Demetri always said;
"You're trying to get me killed, he'll know the second he touches me."
I was currently testing my powers on Jane. What I've been practicing on was making Jane feel the pain she inflicted on others. At the moment, it was a subtle pain, but more than enough for her. She didn't like that someone could make her feel the way she made others feel. She hated the control I potentially had over her. It make me chuckle at the usual level headed and calm woman.
"Do you not have a coven to head back to." Jane snapped as she sent us malicious glares that halted our laughter to her dismay. I pursed my lips and rolled my eyes as I sat up from the position I laid. Demetri shuffled to throw his arm around my shoulders the moment my head lifted from his lap. She side glanced our exchange but we no longer cared for what she thought. She disapproved of our courtship when it first started, but Demetri and I both found comfort in our budding romance.
Demetri was alluring. He wasn't the person I had expected him to be, behind closed doors. He had been lonely for centuries, bound to the Volturi with no point in wanting a mate to comfort him. He wasn't particularly jaded by this but he reserved himself for someone worth his time. Which to my surprise had been me. I had a theory it was only because he was assigned to watch me. He was there at my most vulnerable...
