We pulled up to the field and Alexis was already there. I walked over to my team and started stretching with them. After stretching we warmed up by growing and running a lap around the field. Coach told us our positions and what our batting order was. I was starting pitcher and fourth batter. I was the clean up batter. I don't know why I was the clean up batter, I don't even clean up my room. Well, I am pretty good at hitting. Maybe I can get one over the fence today.
The umpires called over the coaches and captains from each team. Our coach didn't pick a captain yet so he told me to come with him. The umpires just wanted to tell us to play fair, get our line ups, and tell us good luck. With just my luck, Alexis was the other team's captain. The umpire told us to shake hands and say good luck. I shook Alexis's hand and told her good luck, she did the same. When no one was look she pulled me in and whispered in my ear, "You don't need luck. You need a miracle." And she pushed me away but not noticeable so she doesn't get in trouble.
The game was now starting and I was pitching. We were home team so we were fielding first. The first batter I struck out. The second batter I threw three strikes to but Gina, the catcher dropped the ball so she ran to first and was safe. The third batter hit the ball to me. I fielded it, threw it to Lianna at first and she tagged her base getting the girl who hit out. Then she threw it to Alana at second who tagged the runner out. Double play. Three outs.
Alyssa was first up. She hit the ball to third baseman and she fumbled it a bit and threw it to first. Alyssa just got there like two mili seconds before. She was safe.
Macy was up next. She hit a line drive to right field who got it in to second right after Alyssa tagged the base. That puts two runners on base with no outs.
Gina was up now. The pitcher started her wind up and Gina got into bunt position. First baseman yelled, "BUNT!" So third and first came up. When the pitcher was about to release the ball Gina pulled back for the hit. She fake bunted. She hit the ball to second who was about to throw it to first because she forgot it she went up for the bunt. She didn't even realize Macy sliding into second. Gina was safe so now the bases were loaded.
I was up now so no pressure with the bases being loaded. The pitcher pitched and it was a ball. I like to think I'm intimidating to pitchers. The next pitch was a ball. Third pitch I swung and missed. Fourth pitch was a strike and I swung at it but I fouled the ball so now I have 2 balls and 2 strikes. Fifth pitch was a ball so it was full count. I stepped out of the box and got a practice swing while looking at my coach for a sign. She gave me the sign to slap it if it was my pitch, if not take the walk. The pitcher was winding up so I got ready to slap. When she was about to release the ball I started walking forward and swung at the ball. I heard a crack so I knew I hit it. It sounded like a different crack then usual though so I figured I broke my bat since it was pretty old. I ran around the bases and made it home. I had hit a grand slam.
We I rounded third, my teammates were already at home plate waiting for me. I stepped on home plate and everyone was cheering for me except the other team.
The next inning was about to start and my head was kind of hurting. It was worst this time but I needed to play in this game and we needed to win. The top of the inning was beginning so I walked out on the field. I was warming up and I think Alexis could tell something was off with me because she kept looking at me with concern for half a second each time. Alexis was up to bat right now and I was scared.
After a few pitches my coach knew something was up so he called time out. He came up to me and asked if I was ok.
"I'm fine coach. Just getting started. I'll do better I promise." He looked at me concerned but nodded. I wish I knew what was gonna happen next so I could have sat out.
I was winding up for the next pitch but when I stepped out for the pitch I fell to the ground and was very dizzy. The first face I saw next to me surprised me. It was Alexis. Then my coach, the umpires, my team, Tyler, my brother and my parents. Next thing I knew, everything went black.
