It's been about a month since my family found out about me playing guitar and my singing. I still don't know why they were so surprised. I'm pretty sure I've played and sang when they were home. But of course me being the second child, I'm forgotten about and no one pays attention to me unless it's something HUGE like the cancer thing.
I was walking to my locker with Alexis and Tyler when Bella came up to us.
"I heard you quit the softball team Elizabeth. Was it too hard for you?" She said with a fake pout.
"No." I said looking down being reminded of why I had to quit. I just hope she wouldn't find out because that would give her a new thing to pick on me about.
"Hey. Your hairs gotten longer since a month ago. Did you get a hair cut then hate it so you got a wig?" She started reaching for my hair/wig but Alexis slapped her hand away.
"Don't you dare touch her or you'll be sorry!" Alexis said in a deadly tone.
"Why? Is it really a wig?"
"No but that doesn't give you a right to touch her!" Alexis responded.
"Oh well I don't believe you. If you want me to believe you that it's not a wig you need to show me proof." We stood there for a second thinking of a way to prove it wasn't a wig but didn't come up with anything so I just whispered to Alexis that we should just go.
We walked past Bella but next thing I knew my head was cold. I reached up to my head and felt my bald head. I turned around and saw Bella holding my wig laughing. Her friends looked at her like she was an idiot though. I grabbed my wig and dashed for the girls bathroom that no one uses so no one would see me.
When I got to the bathroom, I fixed my wig then cried. The door creaked open revealing Alexis. She sat next to me and hugged me tight. I cried on her shoulder while she rubbed my back.
After school I sat in my room crying to myself. Right now I just really wanted to be alone. I heard a knock on my door but ignored it. The door opened and someone came and sat down next to me. It was Alexis.
"Hey." Alexis said sadly.
"Hi." I replied.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry but Alexis I just really want to be alone. Thanks for checking up on my thoughts." I said.
"Ok. Tell me if you need anything. I'm always here." She got up and left after that.
About 20 minutes later, my phone lit up with a text from Alexis. She sent me a song that was beautiful. It was called After The Storm Blows Through by Maddie and Tae. They're one of my favorite singers. I kept listening to the song and soon started singing it.
You've been walking around with a dark cloud hanging over every step you take
Like the slightest breeze will knock you to your knees doing your best not to break
Wish I had the words to tell ya but I got an umbrella and I think it's big enough
For the both of us
I'll face that wind by your side
Even take on that rain I don't mind
Or give space or give you time
If you need me to
But I'll be here for you after the storm blows through
You know you and me we're thick as thieves you get cut I'll feel the pain
We go together no matter what the weather and that ain't gonna change
I don't know how long the hurt will go on or when the sun will shine again
So until then
I'll face that wind by your side
Even take on that rain I don't mind
Or give you space or give you time
If you need me to
But I'll be here for you after the storm blows through
And your skies are blue again
And your back to you again
My friend
I'll face that wind by your side
Even take on that rain I don't mind
Or give you space or give you time
If you need me to
But I'll be here for you after the storm blows throughThat is now my favorite song because my friend sent it to me and she meant it. I knew she did. I just have to somehow not let Bella get to me. Should be easy (note the sarcasm).
