Chapter 26

Dylan's POV

Hope and I were running through the woods, well more like speeding through. It was fun to race her and she was catching up to me. Eventually she does and I decided to slow down to let her go ahead of me. I went off in my own direction just to see if I could find anywhere with a good view. To see if I could find a cliff or something. I went deeper and deeper into the woods, realizing I had lost Hope.

I slow down on my running and look around. Not looking where I was going, I didn't notice that I was coming up on a bear trap and I step on it. Immediately it snaps right into my leg and I scream loudly.

"Fuck!" I fall forward and continue to yell. There was just so much pain and also adding onto that I felt a really bad burning sensation. I push myself up the best that I can slowly and sit up. I look at my foot to see that the bear trap tore through my pants.

I also saw a bit of smoke coming from my leg and realize that it wasn't a normal bear trap. It was a bear trap set for supernaturals like me. There was vervain and wolfsbane all over it. It was drenched in it. I groan and reach down to grab it onto to burn my hands.

I pull my hands away when that wasn't working and bite my lip. I tug hard at the bear trap with my feet, but stop when I hear a mechanism click and I look around me. Before I could react I hear a bunch of clicks then out comes what I saw was tranquilizers and a bunch shoot at me. Hitting my chest and I gasp. Immediately after everything starts to become blurry and I fall back onto the ground. I pass out from all the tranquilizers.

Hope's POV

Sitting in the woods after a few minutes I hear what sounds like ATVs all around me, but in the distance. I make my way towards the sounds and go as fast as I can. I get closer and spot a small group of guys with guns. I carefully walk up to hide behind a tree. I listen to them talk.

"Well we got ourselves a big one." I hear one of the guys say. "Let him know we got one." I look over and carefully move closer to get a better look. I see Dylan laid on the ground, unconscious. I bring my hand up to my mouth, shocked and I watch as they start to undo the trap.

I shake my head and walk up to them. I was going to try and save Dylan. I take a step forward towards them.

"Hey!" I call out and start to recite a spell. Soon they all drop their guns, moaning and groaning in pain. I wasn't all too powerful like I was before due to the lack of actual human blood. I was only getting animal blood and a few drops of human blood here and there which weakened not just my vampire side, but all sides.

Before I could knock them out with a spell, a big truck drives right into me. Knocking me down and I roll to the side. I groan and look at the truck. I raise my hand to say a spell, but I hear what sounds like a shotgun being reloaded as the person in the driver side rolls down his window. I get up quickly and immediately get shot at by the others who were able to get their gun. I get hit in the arm and flash off.

"Go! Chase after her!" I hear one of them yell and soon I hear ATVs starting up. I keep running as they start driving after me. I didn't know these woods as much so I try my best to listen to any cars that were close which usually would indicate a road.

I run and run for what seemed like forever til I finally get back to where we were originally. I step out the woods and didn't hear the ATVs close to me anymore. I start to make my way back to Sage's place, trying my best to remember how to get there. It takes me awhile, but I finally do and knock on the door frantically. At this point, I was in tears and Sage opens the door.

"Hope?" She asks me and sees the gunshot wound. "Oh my god what happened?" She steps aside as I walk in crying and she shuts the door behind me.

"I don't know." I couldn't really explain anything at the moment and shake my head.
