Ben POV:

I zipped up the tree, adrenaline making me go twice as fast as I would usually go. The tree was the tallest and closest to the Empire State Building, where we wanted to go. Not for vacation, mind you. We had to stop Mrs. E again from doing some evil plot that happened to take place in the Empire State. There was a massive thunderstorm out and it was so dark, I could barely see Erica climbing above me.

Mrs. E had escaped from prison and was currently on the top floor of the Empire State, doing something that involved evil cackling and an electricity rod.

Don't ask me what she was doing up there.

All we knew was that we were supposed to stop her. The tree took a while to climb since the bark was very slippery from the rain and the tree was pretty tall.

"Ben! That's my face!" Mike yelled when I put my foot in a 'foothold'.

"Sorry," I said, dislodging my foot from his face and in the process almost getting blown off by the wind.

Soon, we reached the top of the tree. Erica grabbed her mini crossbow and shot it onto a metal ledge on the building.

"Don't fall off," she warned me, pushing me towards the zipline.

"Hey! Why me first?"

"Because I said so," Erica said, clipping the harness onto me and shoving me down the zipline. Thankfully, it was a short ride, so soon I was on the metal ledge waiting for everybody else.

In turn, Erica, Mike, Zoe, Jawa, and Catherine came. Chip had to stay behind to keep the lookout.

"Keep lookout over what?" Chip asked. "Leaves?"

"In case any enemies follow us," Erica growled. "Now go do it."

We leapt into the building, running up the stairs. We couldn't go through the front door instead of climbing the tree since Mrs. E had fully armed guards standing there and they would slow us down.

Suddenly, a bunch of bullets ricocheted down the stairs, nearly hitting my leg.

"Did that come from a machine gun?" Mike asked.

"Oh, dear, I hope not," Catherine said.

We reached the top, hoping not to see a machine gun.

Just our luck, we did.

Even more luckily, Joshua Hallal was manning it.

"Put your hands in the air!" he yelled. We all did, not wanting to mess with a machine gun. Behind her, I could see a bright yellow rod flickering with electricity balancing over the edge of the building. There was a control panel in front of it with many controls, although to my disappointment no off button. Mrs. E was in front of it, pressing buttons and flicking switches.

"So what's your evil plan?" Zoe asked.

"You idiots really didn't figure it out?" Joshua laughed. Suddenly, I froze. I had just figured out SPYDER's plan.

"I know that look," Zoe whispered. "You found out SPYDER's plan, didn't you?"

"You did?" Joshua asked in disbelief.

"You're planning to drain New York City of its electricity, then offer it back for a lot of money."

"Yes, exactly," Joshua said, looking a bit peeved that I figured it out. "But it's not like you can do anything about it." He smiled smugly at us, then turned around to check on how Mrs. E was doing.

That was his worst mistake.

Erica and Catherine leapt at him, knocking him unconscious quickly. Zoe disarmed the machine gun while Mike and I leapt at Mrs. E.

She was still a good fighter and put up a good fight, but it was a 2 v 1 and she lost quickly.

"Now how do we get rid of the rod?" Erica asked.

"Same way we got rid of the electromagnetic thingy in Paris," I said. "We throw it out the window."

We tossed it out the window, saving New York City. The police soon came and arrested Joshua and Mrs. E, and as usual, I fell fast asleep right when my head hit my pillow back at spy school.
