Fossilized Memories of Friends

Clouds envelope the entire sky;
Lightning strikes,
Thunder speaks,
And rain slithers
To the ground;
Imprisoned in your dwelling;
You peer out the window,
Sighing as the ever so opportunistic nostalgia
Procures memories of old friends;
Your interactions were a routine:
Mumbling gibberish only they can grasp,
Frequently choosing them on group projects,
Regularly playing games with them,
Inviting them for dinner,
Texting them even late at night,
How you thirst for a reunion!
But your last contact was a decade ago,
Realizing an abundance transpired since,
For which your personas evolved,
Unrecognizable to each other;
That's when the rain becomes aggressive,
The lighting blinding,
And the thunder deafening.
