First of all, I just wanted to clarify that I am not in any way connected to any of the boys in real life. Everything in this story is fiction. Although it is based on true circumstances, I am definitely not trying to romanticize closeting. It is not a romantic thing; having to be closeted in the music industry for ten years. It's a terrible thing that happens in our world, and I would prefer if you don't take it as a beautiful circumstance due to this story. When I first started writing this book, looking back, I realize that I do romanticize the fact a bit. And now, two years into it, I am honestly just giving up and publishing it. It isn't the best, but I think you'll enjoy the storyline. But most importantly, I do not want you to think of it all as this big, huge romantic love story, because in reality it's just sadly a part of our society. This book is merely just a twisted reality from our own.
I believe that the best way to spread awareness about certain situations in the world, is to write about them. To read about other people's perspectives is the only way to fully understand the world we live in, without just judging people ahead of time. I think that representation is the most important thing, as long as it is not negative representation of a person or group of people. I hope that this book will help readers to become more accepting, while learning about certain issues in our world that others are affected by. And that closeting is real.
Regardless, it is fiction. And I do not believe that any of these events actually happened.
Of course, the story is based off of real people in real circumstances, but all of the specific events in this story were simply made up by me. I also want you to remember that any person made to look a certain way in this novel was strictly based off of fiction. I have no connections to any of the names used in here, so of course I know nothing about what they are really like. I also try as much as I can to not use the names of members of the boy's families, it didn't feel quite right bringing them into this.
I had also wanted to give a heads up about some topics. There no smut, sorry but I just don't feel very comfortable writing it. Although, there are a few sexual circumstances and sexual remarks so if you are sensitive to that, please skip ahead of it or choose a different novel. There are also some topics based off of drinking, and it can get dark at times. Just wanted to let you know, in case anyone reading is sensitive to those type of things!
Side note: I suggest listening to all of the songs that are mentioned in this book. Will make it more... real.
Anyways, I won't interrupt you any longer, thank you so much for choosing 'But the wait will be worth it,' and I really hope you enjoy it!
:)
