Shuichi heard a notification sound come from his phone and picked it up, turning it on. It was a text in the group chat with him and his friends. He clicked on it, opening the conversation.

Maki: Hey. Kaito.

Kaede: oh hi there, maki! :D what's up

Maki: Nothing. I need to talk to Kaito about something.

Maki: I figured I'd do it here.

Kaede: ahhh okayyy yeah makes sense that's cool

Kaito: what's up makiroll? why didn't you just text me, i would've gotten it faster

Maki: Certain circumstances outside of my control.

Shuichi snorted. He knew all too well Kaede had beat her in a round of chess, and so now she had to tell him in the group chat rather than taking the conversation to their text messages. Although she had grumbled and complained, they had shaken over it, and Maki stuck to her promises. Mostly. 

Kaito: ??? 

Kaede: well go on already, Maki! we don't have all day silly

Maki: Don't rush me.

Shuichi: What are you guys talking about?

Kaito: im confused

Kaito: anyways wanna play minecraft? i got some free time tonight

Maki: Wait a second. This is important, Kaito.

Kaito: oh alright then, what is it?

Maki: Would you be interested in possibly seeing a movie with me this weekend? Just the two of us?

Kaito: oh, sure, sounds fun. we haven't hung out in a while

Maki: Yeah. Sounds good. See you then.

Kaede: wooooowwwwww

Kaede: she's asking you on a date, kaito :p

Kaito: wait

Kaito: hold up

Kaito: really?

Maki: Yes. I am asking you on that.

Shuichi: Asking him on a what, Maki?

Maki: What Kaede said.

Shuichi: Are you embarrassed?

Maki: Do you want to die? I know where you live. I will come to your house and slowly choke you out.

Kaito: hey, makiroll, calm down. it's fine. it's really cool cuz i was actually gonna ask you first, but you actually managed to beat the luminary of the stars!!!!!!!

Kaede: YOU TWO ARE ADORABLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :DDDDDD 

Maki: Don't test me.

Shuichi smiled. The two of them had been interested in each other for several years now. They thought they were being subtle, but everyone in the school and possible everyone on the face of the earth knew except for them.

"Hey, Shu, who're you texting?" Kokichi suddenly appeared behind him, craning his neck to read Shuichi's text messages. "Is it interesting? Is it fun? Is it drama? Show meeeeee!"
