Season five, episode three

A FEW DAYS LATER, Esme sat next to Cristina in the auditorium with a pissed off look on her face.

Earlier that day, Derek had been complaining about her, Alex and Izzie living there and how they should move out. Alex had been pissed as well while Izzie kept trying to seduce Meredith with a muffin.

Esme soon rolled her eyes once she Meredith approach them and sat down next to Cristina, who had her headphones on.

"So Derek wants Alex, Esme and Izzie to move out," Meredith told Cristina.

"Well, since when does he say "jump" and you jump?" Cristina told her and Meredith sent her a look.

"Well, I'm happy."

"I'd be pissed off," Cristina told her and Esme shot a look at Meredith.

"Finally, someone feels the same way. Tell Derek that we were there first and there's no reason to kick us out. Plus, I won't even care if you guys have loud sex or something. I've already gotten used to it with Alex," Esme explained and both Meredith and Cristina sent her weird looks making Esme shrug her shoulders, "I'm just saying."

"What are you even complaining about? You're family's loaded," Meredith told her and Esme shrugged her shoulders again, "You're grandparents can literally buy you a mansion and you would say no. Like, Cristina, have you seen her car?"

"Yes and I don't care. All I care about is meeting Lily Dubois. She specializes in both Cardio and Neuro. She's a legend and I intend to get her attention," Cristina replied and Richard spoke up on the stage.

"Listen up. We busy people, so I'm gonna try and be brief. I am implementing a new teaching protocol at Seattle Grace. Some of these rules are new, and some are old and are going to be newly enforced," Richard told them and Esme furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"First-second- and third year residents will no longer be allowed to de facto specialize," Esme soon rolled her eyes at what he said, "The practice interferes with the development of a fully rounded surgical education. No more."

"Personal relationships, personal loyalties and personal favorites will no longer be a factor in our training program," Richard told them and Esme knew she was screwed eventhough she's the best in her class, "Attendings, you will spread your wealth of knowledge equally among all of your residents. In addition, we will refocus our attention on patient communication and bedside manner. For some of us, this means learning the lost art of humanity and compassion. For others, this means learning how to treat patients without becoming emotionally involved with them."
