Subject X1- Lost

CHAPTER 14

-HIDDEN MAGIC-

After disposing of the bodies they where driving pas the last city.

"Stop!" Violet quickly called as she sat in the back, Newt slammed on the breaks. Violet didn't even wait for the car to stop as she quickly got off running into the run down book store with a small laugh of relief. She quickly threw the door open and ran in, most books were littered on the floor even the windows were spray painted causing the inside to be a bit dark. She looked around mesmerized by the amount of books just as the boys entered as the bells chimed.

Violet walked down the isles picking out different books that caught her eye. She paused when she saw a black book with leather bindings and gold accents. It looked very large so she picked it up putting it in her pile "Violet i think you've got enough books to last you months" Marcus spoke as he too was picking a couple books. "I think you underestimate my addiction to reading" she teased as she headed back to the front of the store. "Okay i'm ready" Violet said as Newt helped her with her books,
they both laughed just as Marcus came back holding two books. "Ready?" Violet asked as Marcus nodded, Violet smiled before they all headed back to the truck.

Violet picked up the black leather book as she got in the passenger seat next to Newt who was driving. Violet slowly opened the book to se the edges of the book burnt off even slightly torn. Violets eyes scanned the pages as she realized what this book was about. At first she couldn't believe it, she had to double check to make sure it wasn't fantasy. She quickly closed the book staring up ahead "everything ok?" Newt asked from next to her. She turned giving him a soft smile before turning back and putting the book away.

She instead took out another book this one was in fact fantasy of fallen kingdoms.

They were half way through there journey already, they sat parked in a clearing in the middle of a wood. Violet had read the black leather book which contained things of magic from energy, it was probably why Violet was drawn to it in the store.

Violet sat on the tailgate as Newt slept next to her, it brought her peace hearing his soft snores. It made her remember she wasn't alone anymore, she smiled looking down at Newt before looking back at the woods in front of her. There was still a big patch of trees that seemed untouched, looking alive and well. This was odd since most trees died out lack of food and water, Violet sighed jumping off the tailgate landing on her feet as she started walking forward, not sure where she was going.

She eventually made it not to far away but far enough you couldn't see the truck anymore. Violet brought her hand down to the grass closing her eyes and focusing. At an instant a ring of fire appeared around her low enough so it wouldn't hurt her and only provide light. Violet looked around seeing no animals around, she crouched down examining for any life.

She found a big caterpillar crawling around the ground probably looking for food, she carefully scooped it cupping it in her hand bringing it closer to her face. She brought her other hand cupping it ontop of her other as she closed her eyes trying to focus. After a deep breath she felt something flutter in her hands almost tickling her hand, she opened her hands as a butterfly came flying out. She gave a small laugh of joy watching as the butterfly flew away, she looked down at the floor before slowly crouching down.

She brought her hands down laying her palms flat as once again she closed her eyes, she focused on the low howls of wind around as she felt her energy leave her body. Violet opened her eyes looking down feeling bumbed when she didn't see anything. It wasn't till she stood up looking around realizing the ring that was once fire was now a set of colorful flowers.

She smiled doing a little twirl to see all them before stopping with a small laugh.
