"(Y/n)?" Steve called out as he entered the dark room that was lit sporadically by flickering candlelight. The super soldier unable to stop himself from smiling as his eyes fell on the vampire that sat in front of a large mirror.
From the day that (Y/n) had appeared with Fury in the conference room, Steve had found it almost impossible to stay away from the beautiful, dark woman. She had explained to him that each vampire has only one true mate. A soul that was made to match theirs. A mate that they would wait until the end of time for. That his soul was the one she had been waiting three hundred and fifty years for. And even though he wasn't a vampire, she knew that he could feel it too.
(Y/n) had told the captain, that she knew he was there in the Carpathians as soon as he had arrived. That she could smell him, that the taste of his blood had only confirmed her suspicions, and that now she had found him, she would follow him to the ends of the earth and beyond.
Steve had to admit that he still felt a little guilty about Peggy. He had always thought that she was the girl that he was meant to be with, and losing her had broken his heart. But (Y/n) had shown him that love can come from the most unexpected quarters. And he certainly couldn't argue with the way that she made him feel every time she turned her dark, piercing eyes towards him.
"You know. I couldn't see myself for so many years. What with old mirrors using silver to make the reflective surface. But now, I find it strange that I can finally look upon my own visage again. Strange that I haven't aged a day since that fateful night." (Y/n) replied absentmindedly as Steve came up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders. Leaning down so that he could kiss her on the neck. The feel of his warm lips against her cold skin, sending an exquisite shudder down her spin.
"You look beautiful, (Y/n)." Steve hummed reassuringly, as he looked at both their reflections.
"I am sure that you say that to all the three hundred and fifty year old vampires you come across." (Y/n) chuckled, as Steve kissed her again.
"Bruce told me to tell you that he has devised a new batch of synthetic blood for you. Maybe you should try some, it's been a while since you last ate." Steve continued, still finding it strange that the woman he now loved needed blood to sustain her, as well as the fact that he spoke about it as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
Since (Y/n) had arrived, she had refused to take human blood, knowing that if she could sustain herself on the artificial creation that Bruce had come up with, then the rest of the team were more likely to trust her. Though she did get the opportunity to feed if the team came into conflict with Hydra. Fury giving the vampire the green light to drink as much blood as she needed. But it had been a while since the team had had a mission, and Steve was right, she needed to feed. The hunger growing inside her to a point where she was struggling to control it.
"You know, if you need some real blood you can always take mine......." Steve began. (Y/n) shaking her head at the suggestion.
"Steve........I love you, and I never want to lose you. But I can't take your blood. If I feed on you, I don't know if I will be able to stop. And you'll end up like..........we'll I'm not sure that you are ready to be like me. You are Captain America. The clean cut boy next door. You aren't a dark creature like me. And even though I want to spend the rest of eternity with you. I need you to seriously think about everything it will mean. I want to turn you. I want to know that my mate will be with me forever. But I need you to be completely ready for that. Ready to outlive everyone that you know and care for now. Ready to watch all your friends grow old and die. I have done it so many times, yet it still hurts. I have more friends now than I have had in centuries, and deep down I know I will have to prepare myself to lose them one by one. And I don't want to curse you with that unless you are truly, truly sure that you can deal with all that." (Y/n) replied, knowing what losing Peggy and all those he had known before he went into the ice, had done to him.
