Some swine has given me a rotten cold, and I feel terrible. 🤧 So, what greater way to help myself feel better, than have the Avengers and Loki in particular as a nurse maid. 🤒😊 Sorry it's a little shorter.
(Y/n) sat in bed. Coughing, sneezing, and feeling, well let's face it, feeling downright terrible. She hadn't had a cold in years, so now, it felt like her body had forgotten how to fight off the dreaded lurgy. And consequently, every inch of her. Every last muscle and nerve seemed to hurt. Even her teeth seemed to ache. And the pile of tissues in the little bin by the side of the bed, seemed to be getting bigger and bigger as she blew her sore red nose, for what felt like the millionth time that hour.
"How do you feel?" A soft voice enquired. Tony's head appearing from around the slowly opening door. A soft smile gracing his features, as his eyes fell on the ailing woman. A woman who was looking ever so slightly sorry for herself.
No matter how much she had told the rest of the team to keep their distance. Told them that she didn't want them to get sick too. The Avengers would always be the Avengers, and in the nicest way possible, hadn't listened to a word she had said. Instead, one of them insisting on popping in as often as possible, to make sure that she wasn't on the verge of death. The super soldiers in particular claiming that they didn't have to worry about things like the common cold. Bruce stating that even a cold would be scared of the Hulk. And Sam claiming that he was somehow immune.
"I still feel like I'm dying. I think my brain is drowning in mucus. But I'll be ok." (Y/n) chuckled, as she pulled the comforter under her chin, and dramatically pretended to faint.
"Amazing. Even when you're sick, you can ham it up with the best of them. Though I seriously doubt that performance will get you the best actress oscar." Tony chuckled, as he took a seat at the end of her bed.
"So, what's it like outside? Has the world ended? Aliens landed? Has New York been taken over by apes yet?" (Y/n) asked, blowing her nose again as she snuggled further under her bedding. Smiling as Tony just shook his head and rolled his eyes at her. She felt as though she had been in bed for weeks, even though, in truth, Tony and the others had insisted that she not move until she felt better, only two days ago.
"No. No. And.......er no. Though admittedly I probably wouldn't notice the difference if apes did take over. Though it could be funny to see a gorilla dressed in Rogers outfit." Tony replied, as he stood back up and retrieved a new box of tissues for her.
"I'm afraid it's the same as always. It's cold and wet at the moment. The streets are still crammed with traffic. People are still rude, and my favourite hotdog stand ran out of coke." Tony continued. (Y/n) smiling at the fact, that no matter what, Tony could always bring everything back to him.
"Well, that's no fun. I had hoped that as I was not gracing the world with my presence, space lizards might have come from an unknown galaxy. Or an asteroid the size of Texas might have hit that terrible deli around the corner, that I swear hands out a free case of salmonella poisoning with every purchase." (Y/n) chuckled, despite the fact that she wished that one person could be there to look after her.
She appreciated that the others had done everything they could for her. That they had all gone out of their way to look after her. But she would give everything for Loki to be there. He had had to return to Asgard with Thor a few days ago. He had promised her that he would be back by now. But she knew that things had a tendency of changing when they were up there. So, she knew that she was going to have to continue to suffer without him.
"Can I get you anything?" Tony asked. (Y/n) not sure whether she liked the strange smile that had just appeared on the billionaire's lips.
"If you could make Loki come back. That would be nice." (Y/n) sighed. Wishing that the man she loved was in the compound with her, rather than doing goodness knows what, with Thor.
"Funny you should mention that (Y/n). We all know that you've been feeling miserable, and that only one thing can change that. Even though, if it was me, I would just stick with the cold instead. But as its you..........." Tony announced, opening the door to the room to reveal Loki stood in the doorway. The God of Mischief carrying with him a breakfast tray that seemed to be filled with all manner of goodies.
"Little mischief." (Y/n) squealed happily, despite her sore throat. Loki shaking his head as Tony walked past him. Muttering something to himself about telling the others about what (Y/n) called him.
"(Y/n) will you not. Not in front of that idiot Stark, anyway." Loki grumbled slightly, before placing the tray over her lap, kissing her on the forehead, and then moving to sit next to her on the bed.
"Stark sent us a message to inform us that you were sick, with something called a cold. Heimdall said that you wished I was here. So, I have brought you things from Asgard to make you feel better." Loki told her. (Y/n) looking down at the array of fruit and flowers. A steaming bowl of something sitting proudly in the middle of the tray.
"Loki. This looks like soup." (Y/n) noted. As she snuggled into the god's side. Resting her head on his shoulder. And letting out a sigh as he brushed his fingers softly through her hair.
To everyone else, Loki was still trouble with a capital T. He could be cold, arrogant and had an ego as big as Stark tower. But with (Y/n) he was different. It had taken time. It had certainly not been an overnight thing. But underneath all those faults, was a man that was sweet. A man that cared for and loved her beyond words. And (Y/n) couldn't imagine life without him.
"It is. But it is Asgardian soup. I was informed that it would make you feel much better." Loki told her. Picking up the spoon from the tray and handing it to her.
"Loki. My dear, sweet, lovable Mischief. Its chicken soup." (Y/n) chuckled, as she took another mouthful. Loki not quite understanding that Midgardians already knew that chicken soup cured everything.
"Tell me that you can stay with me. Tell me that you don't have to go back to Asgard." (Y/n) pleaded, as she finished the soup, and placed the tray on the table next to the bed.
"I've missed you. And I need you here." (Y/n) continued, as she threw some of the bedding over Loki. Holding onto him tight, not wanting to let him go.
"I don't have to return. I have informed Thor that my place is here with you. And I will not leave your side until you no longer have this cold, thing." Loki replied. A soft smile pulling at his lips as (Y/n) lay her head on his chest. The sound of his rhythmic heartbeat lulling her into a deep sleep.
"I love you, Mischief." (Y/n) said with a yawn.
"I love you too, my queen. Now, sleep." Loki replied. (Y/n) drifting off into a deep slumber. Confident in the knowledge that her wonderful man would still be there when she opened her eyes again. And that maybe being sick wasn't the worst thing in the world, after all.
