(Y/n) looked at all the faces. It wasn't that she knew the people that wore them, personally. But she certainly knew who and what they were. Even living on the streets, she was always able to see the papers, even the odd magazine. And even though she hadn't realised who James was when they had met, there was no not realising who the rest were.
It wasn't as if she could miss Tony Stark. (Y/n) had to admit that he was handsome, even though he was older. But that said, she supposed, compared to James and Captain Rogers, he was still a spring chicken. And despite all the hype and controversy surrounding him and his alter ego. And despite the way that he was furrowing his brows as he looked at her. She was having to stop herself from smiling broadly, as she took in his chocolate brown orbs.
She didn't like the way the Russian woman and the archer were looking her up and down. (Y/n) beginning to feel a little uncomfortable, which was never a good thing. But she reasoned that they were agents, spies, and that being suspicious was part of the job. And a new person, appearing unannounced as if from nowhere, she could only imagine would put the pair on alert.
Captain Rogers was there. A soft smile on his lips as he looked between her and his old friend. She had only really said a tentative hello, to the celebrated soldier, but she knew that she liked him already. There was something trustworthy in his sapphire, blue eyes. It was the same look that she saw in James' eyes. And she could only imagine that he would have the same sweet charm and impeccable manners, that James had too.
Then there was the doctor. The one that changed into the big green guy when he got angry. (Y/n) couldn't help but feel as though they had a lot in common. That they both became creatures that they didn't want to be, because of their emotions. And even though he hadn't been born with his monster lying dormant inside him, as she had. What he became was still feared. Could still kill. Just like her. Even if they didn't mean to. Though (Y/n) would still put money on herself in a fight, if ever she and the Hulk met. Knowing that not even the big, mean, green beast could win against one of her stares.
Finally, there were the two that she could have never even dreamed that she would see. The Asgardian Gods. The big blonde, Thor, was smiling broadly at her. His huge happy grin, almost making her want to giggle. She knew a little of the great God of Thunder from the books she had read when she was a child. She had always had a love for the myths and legends of the old world. Often dreaming about joining the ranks of the Olympian Gods or finding herself in the great halls of Valhalla. But never once had she thought that she would get to meet one of those beings from her books. And less, that it would be the mighty Thor. And she hoped that she would get the chance to ask him if all the myths and stories surrounding him, were true.
Yet the other. The dark haired God of Mischief, she found concerning. There was no denying that he wasn't merely handsome, he was, well, he was beautiful. Darkly, coldly beautiful. Like an exquisite work of art carved from glistening black ice. And, unlike the others, there was something behind his eyes. A twinkle of knowledge. (Y/n) getting the strangest feeling that he knew exactly what she was, and she wasn't sure that she liked it. She knew that the God had many powers. Many abilities. But could he really know what lay behind her innocent looking façade? Would he expose her before she or James had chance to explain what she was, and why she was there? (Y/n) had no desire to change a God to stone, today. Even if that God had nearly destroyed New York.
"Come on, (Y/n). Let's introduce you to everyone." Sam suddenly said. Pulling her away from Bucky. (Y/n) realising that she had forgotten her hat. That her pale locks were there for all to see. And if anything happened, there was nothing she could do to conceal the mass of squirming serpents that would appear.
"Everyone. I would like you to meet, (Y/n). (Y/n), this is everyone." Sam declared, as he pulled (Y/n) further into the room of heroes. Bucky quickly coming up behind her and placing a reassuring arm around her shoulder. The soldier ready to pounce, if the Falcon dared to place his hand anywhere, he didn't like.
"You of course have already met Steve." Sam continued, as (Y/n) and the captain nodded to one another.
"That's the tin can. Otherwise known as, Stark." Sam explained. (Y/n) doing her best not to laugh at Iron Man being referred to as a "tin can". Or the fact that Stark was glaring at the man next to her, for his comment.
"Then we have Nat and Clint. Over there is, Bruce. You know, the big green guy. And finally, we have Thor, and, er......him. Loki." Sam introduced. (Y/n) smiling at all of them as Sam said each of their names in turn, until her eyes once again fell on those of the God of Mischief. A small thin smile pulling at the corners of his lips as he looked her up and down.
"And what do we have here?" Loki hummed, as he gracefully rose from his seat, and made his way over to where (Y/n), Bucky and Sam stood. Bucky quickly pulling her closer as the God came to stand before them.
"Well, aren't you an interesting find?" Loki continued, as he looked deep into her eyes. (Y/n) averting her gaze just in case the worst should happen.
"Yeah, she is. And she's with me. So why don't you back off." Bucky growled, as he moved to stand protectively in front of (Y/n). Steve jumping to the aid of his friend. Both old soldiers glowering at the grinning Loki.
"That may be the case.....Sargent. But I think that you should let everyone else in on her little secret. Tell them exactly what you have brought back with you." Loki hummed. (Y/n) hiding behind the protective wall of soldiers. Doing her best to stay as calm as possible, knowing if anything happened, she could inadvertently hurt James and the others too.
"What are you talking about, brother? Just leave the lady alone." Thor sighed. Hating it when Loki insisted on doing things like this.
"But don't you think that all your friends would like to know that they are in the presence of something, that is as fabled in Midgardian lore as you or I? That they might be interested to learn that they have one of the most dangerous and infamous creatures from their mythology, right in this room?" Loki asked. The God of Mischief's grin growing ever broader, as he looked at the confused looks on the Avengers faces.
"Well, seeing you seem to know so much. Why don't you let us all in on this little secret, that you seem to find so funny?" Clint hissed. Not liking the smug, sanctimonious look on Loki's face.
"Very well." The God chuckled, as (Y/n) looked at up at James. Her eyes begging him to do something, anything to stop him from telling the rest what she was. The dreaded words leaving Loki's mouth before Bucky could do anything.
"Why, Mister Barton. She is a Gorgon."
