Family

Today was the day. I was meeting Demi's family, Eddie, Diana, Dallas and Maddie. To say I was nervous was an understandment. I was on the verge of a panic attack. I was sitting in the back with Demi, and a chauffeur was driving us. I looked out the window as we drove past big houses, and the sun beat down. It was hotter here than it was in California, but I wasn't going to wear short sleeves and bracelets unless I got really desperate. I glanced at the time on my phone. It was 6:57 pm.

"Were almost there!" Demi said excitedly. I nodded and tried to control my breathing so I wouldn't have another panic attack. I had already had one at the airport, and I didn't want to bother Demi with another one. I didn't even notice I was shaking until Demi touched my shoulder.

"Sweetie it's ok they're gonna love you." Demi said as she took my hand.

"But what it they hate me?"

"They won't baby. They will love you as much as I do, which is a lot."

I nodded and looked back out the window. The car slowed down and we pulled up infront of a huge house. It was like Demi's house back in California, but a little smaller.

"Let's go!" Demi said as she got out of the car. I reluctantly followed. Don't get me wrong, it was cool to be meeting Demi's family, but I was really nervous. I still felt like I was on the border of having a panic attack. We went up to the front door and before Demi even touched it, the door was flung open. Dianna stood in the doorway, and wrapped Demi in a hug.

"Demi!"

"Hi mom!"

Dianna pulled away and looked at me.

"And this is Alex?"

"Yep!"

"Hi honey I'm Dianna, nice to meet you!"

Dianna gave me a hug, and I hesitantly hugged back. My anxiety spiked at the sudden contact, and I forced myself to control my breathing. The last thing I need is the have a panic attack righ infront of Demi's family. We went inside the house and Demi launched herself at Eddie.

"Hey Demi!"

"I missed you!"

Eddie pulled away and looked at me.

"This must be Alex." Eddie said as he extended his hand to shake, which I did, hesitatnly. "it's nice to meet you finally, I've heard a lot about you from Demi!"

I looked at Demi, and her face was red.

"All good things, don't worry!" Eddie said with a laugh as Dallas appeared and hugged Demi.

"This is Alex!" Demi said as she gestured to me. Dallas's eyes shifted to me, and my heartbeat quickened. I felt like everyone was staring at me. Scrutinizing me and picking out my flaws.

"Nice to meet you!" Dallas said with a smile.

I returned a small smile, and focused on not having a panic attack.

"Where's Maddie?" Demi asked.

As if on cue, Maddie ran down the stairs and ran into Demi, giving her a giant hug.

"Maddie!" Demi yelled with a grin as she wrapped her in a hug.

"Hey Dems, I missed you!"

"I missed you to Mads! This is Alex!"

Maddie turned to me and I felt like she was staring me down.

"Hey Alex!" Maddie said as she waved at me. I gave a little wave back and looked down at my shoes.
