Bea

The smell of coffee hit me like a truck as we entered the cafe', and a little bell rang on the door announcing our arrival. Maddie and I were at Cafe' Silva, were we would be meeting Bea. I looked around, and saw that there were only two other people here. There were tables scattered about, and the place had a cozy feel to it.

"Let's sit over here and wait for Bea." Maddie said, leading me to a table in the back.

"Do you come here often?"

"Not really, this is my third time here. They have really good drinks here though." Maddie said as she sat down.

We heard the little bell ring on the door, and we twisted around to see who it was. It was Bea.

"Maddie!" She screamed as she ran toward us and hurled herself at Maddie.

"I missed you so much Bea!"

"I missed you too!"

"This is Alex, Demi adopted her." Maddie said as she gestured to me.

"Oh hey that's cool!" Bea said with a smile.

We sat down, and a sense of awkwardness came over me. I felt like Bea was picking out my flaws or something. I could feel myself closing up and becoming more anxious.

"We should order our stuff." Maddie said, and we followed her to the counter. I scanned over the menu writen on a blackboard behind the counter. I saw all sorts of drinks, from plain water to fancy frappes. Maddie and Bea both ordered some kind of frappe, and I ordered water. I couldn't afford any calories. Demi had made me eat lunch before we left, which was a little sandwich. I had managed to purge right before we left.

"Just water?" Maddie asked as she grabbed her drink.

"Ya I'm not really into frappes or anything." I lied. To be honest, I really wanted to try one of the drinks. They looked so good, but I couldn't afford anymore calories. I was fat enough already.

"So how are you guys?" Bea asked as we sat back down.

"Good!" Maddie said and I nodded in agreement. That was actually a lie, I was not "good." I think a more appropriate world to decribe how I am is messed up.

"So Demi adopted you?" Bea asked.

"Yeah."

"That's really cool. I saw some stuff on Twitter about you and it's cool to meet you!"

"Thanks I'm a big fan of you." I admitted shyly.

"Oh that's cool! I'm glad that you're not totally fangirling." Bea said with a laugh.

I laughed with her and I felt a little more at ease.

"So how was the orphanage you were at? I've always wondered what it's like at an orphanage." Bea asked.

Pain shot through me as I remembered my days at the orphanage. I remembered all of Dan's and Erin's abuse, and all of Chelsea's torture.

"Um it was okay I guess. It was lonely."

"Sorry if that was to personal or something I-"

"No it's fine, really." I cut her off and forced a smile on my face.

We made small talk, but I felt like I was being awkward or something. I didn't say much, but sometimes I contributed to the conversation. Maddie and Bea got to the bottom of their drinks. And we left the cafe' and went out into the pounding heat of Texas.

"Wait Bea why are you in Dallas? I forgot." Maddie asked.

"I have some relatives up here that I'm visiting. They're really boring though, I'd rather hang with you guys."
